This stock is acting like it's a non-listed company, due to the fact that 53% belongs to one investor and the fact that the market cap is so low. That's why it does not follow movements on the sector or market in general. We are in the hands of real events such as profits and a going private takeover event

Looks like the market couldn't be less thrilled by MTRO's current effort to sell its mortgage book. Presumably potential investors will 'believe it when they see it'. Fingers crossed it works out this time.

I have an idea

Given most of the views here are a buy since 4400p, maybe we should listen to them at 40p as well?

even if it did bring in 300-400 million, it's only peanuts with MREL for finding other uses. it's nothing

MTRO is going private - cheap - whenever

Which means they don't believe it will happen. A sale would bring in between 400-600m on a pe of 10

Based on my research they will hopefully achieve £300-£400 million for £3-4 billion of mortgage book. Around twice the current valuation of the company (not counting debt!)

any thoughts on what metro could get for this book of business? also, how much revenue it currently generates

Don't be surprised if this is the moment metro is taken over. Barclays or Nationwide would swallow this crumb in a heartbeat

They have to dump assets. Obviously given balance sheet. I think the story was to pre-empt an imminent horror market story about the balance sheet

But now is a time for vultures. Opportunists

The only way they will get any value given macro risks to book, is if underwriten by gov or central bank. That wouldn't go down well, first weeks in power for labour

Another comic metro bank story. probably merlot man again. translated

"It's balance sheet is awful - they need to sell the mortgage book - rather than take advantage, everyone wants to give them an extra billion before property collapse
