11/5/2019 17:39 | Well done, but as you go up, Argyle will go down.... If it were to happen, I'll take you along to the Theatre of Greens | yertiz
11/5/2019 17:16 | A brilliant day. Tonbridge Angels promoted to the National League, the league below Division Two of the Football League. We’ll be playing Plymouth Argyle in a season or two with luck. | brexitplus
11/5/2019 12:23 | So we judge whether people deserve decent retirement purely based on how much money they make for themselves and certain others? Ever thought this 'vehicle' is more about wealth transfer than wealth creation? Duh. | minerve 2
10/5/2019 19:30 | Old french wine, it is. Some bottles are sure to be off. | meanwhile
10/5/2019 17:02 | Aggressive? That looks like further evidence that you do indeed live in a cotton-wool world Meanwhile! Man-up for goodness sake! | gettingrichslow
10/5/2019 16:12 | ryelodge, Excuse tournesol's aggressive attitude. He drinks a lot of French wine. | meanwhile
10/5/2019 15:53 | Questiontime last evening was at its most entertaining, quelled somewhat by Ms Bruce. Anna Soubry didn't know where to hide after Nigel had tongue lashed her, poor little mare. Fiona needs to learn when to back off when the fighting starts, otherwise it could have been a bloody night. Lol. | yertiz
10/5/2019 13:34 | tournesol I gather you are talking about David Roper. A very shrewd operator. I agree, at 69 it is a good idea to plan retirement and enjoy life. I will when I am anywhere near 69. I spoke to a friend today who is 70. He doesn't look anything like it. A senior man involved with the military (not an operational serviceman), he retired a few years ago. He told me that he took on some consultancy and found it as pressurised as when he was working full time, so he packed it in. Now he is away on regular holidays and enjoys himself to the full. I hope David Roper does the same. He has worked bloody hard and made lots of people, including himself, lots of money. | brexitplus
10/5/2019 13:25 | RyelodgeThe man is 69.. Dont you think the market might have realised his retirement is imminent? And before you start whinging, has it occurred to you that he might well be retiring for health reasons?Give him and us a break. | tournesol
10/5/2019 11:52 | Oh Christ he's talking to himself again! Can someone call nurse?? | gettingrichslow
10/5/2019 11:04 | Well, ryelodge, the vote was close so such a disclosure could have changed the result. On the other hand, the 3 greed-ridden directors are all near retirement age so any loss, planned or otherwise, was always a good possibility. | meanwhile
10/5/2019 10:25 | If it had been disclosed to the Market that Roper would leave within 24 months of the completion of the GKN acquisition, and be a Lame Duck for 12 months of that period, would the deal have got approved by shareholders? | ryelodge
10/5/2019 09:13 | In accordance with likely custom at Melrose, on departure of a senior member of the Company, a company-wide retirement whip-round might be expected to be initiated very soon, on behalf of David Roper, due to leave in 12 months time. This may seem very early, with 12 months to departure, but I am informed that this period of time is considered necessary to allow contributors to raise the necessary cash. I am further advised that the draft guidelines (developed by the Remuneration Committee) for contributions to the whip-round comprise £5000 per head for junior staff and £5200 for senior staff. This should see him off in fine style. | meanwhile
09/5/2019 16:40 | Brexit going well ain't it. 🤣🤣 | minerve 2
09/5/2019 13:55 | "brush the bad stuff under the carpet, eh?"Brush has been a thorn in their side admittedly :) | steeplejack
09/5/2019 13:35 | "most successful business duo" Well that is obviously a personal opinion depending on the yardsticks you use to rate that. On certain measures they are downright failures. But it is a nice day in May, so we will, as always, brush the bad stuff under the carpet, eh? | minerve 2
09/5/2019 08:41 | AGM today. Will be interesting any reporting. | brexitplus
09/5/2019 08:36 | Re. MRO Trading Statement and Roper's departure. He's off to spend his £50 million bonuses ( and whatever he picks up from the current LTIP ). Will others follow to live the high life? That's an issue with the MRO compensation structure in a quoted company. ALSO of concern that there was very high volume (sell) in this stock in days before this announcement. Who knew what and when -- and how? Certainly not the small punter. Regulator, where are you? | ryelodge
09/5/2019 08:21 | I personally thought David Roper was the more capable of the Fun Boy Three. | minerve 2 |
