14/6/2018 18:02 | With three first class honours in science in the family it surprises me that MW is reduced to googling lyrics. Surely he could write something ne. Without numbers of course!!! | brexitplus
14/6/2018 17:49 | Hasn't anyone sectioned Meanwhile yet? | sogoesit
14/6/2018 11:58 | I do believe the poor chap has lost it - the worry of having all his eggs in one basket? ......Matron.......! I too had RR in my portfolio, completely undermined by the corruption/bribery charges a few years ago (finally settled late last year?). A damaging period for the company's hierarchy and the share price. Seems they are still reaping the 'rewards' for their sins and pointing fingers in the wrong direction for their blame game. Sad times for those honest workers losing their jobs who were part of a prestige team with quality products. | yertiz
14/6/2018 09:45 | Told you so. Lyrics while I was updating my post. | brexitplus
14/6/2018 09:39 | Take me on a trip upon your magic swirling ship My senses have been stripped My hands can't feel to grip My toes too numb to step Wait only for my boot heels to be wandering I'm ready to go anywhere, I'm ready for to fade Into my own parade Cast your dancing spell my way, I promise to go under it Hey! Mr. Tambourine man, play a song for me I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to Hey! Mr. Tambourine man, play a song for me In the jingle jangle morning I'll come following you | meanwhile
14/6/2018 07:43 | Yertiz Making the operating divisions responsible similar. Difference is I believe the speed of capital allocation and interference from the board. Job losses decided by the centre rather than divisions. Unilever doing the same. Will be interesting to see the result. I think Melrose would do a better job than the RR board. Would love to hear their opinion. Next on the Melrose list? I see RR deteriorating. I first bought RR in the 1980s but sold a few years later. Recent performance has been very poor. Even today it’s up only about 2.6%. Turnaround is going to be a long job, particularly with the engine problems. May be more bad news in the pipeline. Yes, would like minerve’s opinion but think we may only get song lyrics from elsewhere!!! | brexitplus
14/6/2018 07:37 | Melrose’s modus operandi coming to the fore? Huge numbers going in RR, mostly white collar and pretty soon too, so not really the same way Melrose have conducted their business with GKN. What does our friend Minerve have to say about this, I know he was pretty solidly behind Rolls Royce? | yertiz
14/6/2018 07:27 | Sogoesit Was just about to post exactly the same. Melrose the role model?!!! | brexitplus
14/6/2018 07:26 | Rolls Royce today confirming it will follow a décentralised organisational strategy. As MRO has as its strategy. How are all the GKN doom-and-gloom mongers doing; any complaints yet? | sogoesit
13/6/2018 22:39 | Now been ok for 6 HOURS!!! | brexitplus
13/6/2018 21:47 | B+ You might have a long wait :!: | losos
13/6/2018 17:15 | Losos Ours is off for hours. I was told by a BT engineer that it dropped 300 times in 24 hours. After 2 days of calls, testing routers, etc, finally got someone who told me it was probably a problem at the exchange!!! Am waiting news. | brexitplus
13/6/2018 14:45 | B+ "Except usual broadband problems. Intermittent so a problem." We have same thing here in rural Suffolk, modem just cuts out for a minute or two then auto reconnects and all fine for days then same thing again. I don't bother ringing BT now they only get you to go through a list of actions on a bit of paper in front of them, wouldn't know a mega bit from a mega bomb haha. | losos
13/6/2018 08:06 | Losos All fine. Garden is lovely. Except usual broadband problems. Intermittent so a problem. | brexitplus
12/6/2018 21:55 | B+ Hope that all is well down your way too. | losos
12/6/2018 20:52 | Losos Glad you are well. And your dogs. | brexitplus
12/6/2018 13:22 | B+ / Yertiz / Meanwhile and all, good afternoon :-) Yes, I'm still around 'tho increasingly occupied on other things haha. Never had Halma in my portfolio, agree they are very good 'tho think I may have missed the boat on this one. I do have some cash inmy ISA so one to watch I think. Thanks for all the info on Ergotron etc. and had to smile at the desire of people in work to go from sitting to standing while still glued to a screen. I can remember when the boss wanted to know why anyone in the office even got up from his desk to go to the loo haha. Does this mean workers can continue to tap away at their keyboards even when 'taking a break' ???? Off out now with the dogs and then more garden duties haha. | losos
12/6/2018 08:47 | Hi Yertiz It looks like results were built into the existing price. I agree with your comment about the new iii website. Total rubbish. | brexitplus
12/6/2018 07:34 | Sorry, but Halma again: Revenue £1.076bn, well above my (not so) conservative estimate, EPS also much improved at 40.69p but no surprises with the divi increase - that’s happened every year for over 40 years without fail. Melrose are sitting pretty with Nortek divisions, Ergotron etc all seemingly positive, just need Aero and Auto parts of GKN to deliver. | yertiz
11/6/2018 22:05 | B+, Yertiz has summed it up perfectly but to be honest I don't even bother looking at news or forecasts any more with Halma, I just watch the share price go up and occasionally invest another ISA allowance in them. It can't keep going on forever but I've been saying that for a long time now. And really surprising how quiet the Halma discussion boards are - hardly any comment at all on them! | gettingrichslow

11/6/2018 20:16 | More from NORTEK “Nortek sees commercial need for Elan automation platform By Guy Campos in Products June 11 Elan is established in the residential market and is now increasingly used in commercial projects that require full management over sub-systems like audio, video, security, lighting and climate. Nortek Security & Control has introduced Elan, a robust, all-encompassing automation platform to InfoComm 2018 to meet demand from the commercial AV industry. While Elan is recognised in the residential channel as an intuitive and installer-friendly platform, NSC senior director of marketing Bill Hensley said that Elan is increasingly being used in commercial projects that require full management over sub-systems like audio, video, security, lighting and climate. “Commercial installers are already leveraging the same features and capabilities that make Elan great for residential projects in their hotel, restaurant, corporate, and commercial building projects,” he said. “Elan enables the integrated management of all connected sub-systems that a business needs to operate efficiently, from temperature management of the walk-in cooler, to the integration of the surveillance and security system, to full management of the AV system.” With a tap on a touchscreen or mobile app, staff members can control climate and lighting, access security and video cameras, manage music and video content and more from one seamless interface on an app or smartphone. For example, a restaurant might need to incorporate different audio feeds into each dining area within the space to cultivate varying atmospheres. “The audio might need to be louder outside, while playing softer – or an entirely different soundtrack – inside,” Hensley said. “Elan makes it easy to personalise each space to operate as a separate ‘zone’ or to group these zones on-the-fly.” Elan automates routine control through customised “events” and schedules, making facility management easier than ever. For example, a facility’s thermostats, shades and lighting can be scheduled for proper ambience throughout operating hours, freeing the staff to focus on the customers. Commercial venues that have installed Elan include: the Play Restaurant & Lounge in Dubai; the Nashville Underground bar in Nashville, Tennessee; and the College of St. Benedict in Rogers, Minnesota. “Elan makes it easy for commercial installers to deliver a seamless management experience to their customers,” Hensley said. | brexitplus
11/6/2018 11:28 | Re Halma: I am expecting an increase in the divi (38.5p), revenue to be up (£1.065 bn, EPS 37.25p), Pre tax about £164m and the PE around 30. No surprises, but healthy, steady upwards progress once again. Been a great investment for me. Must be in the ball-park with those figures! | yertiz
11/6/2018 09:44 | Halma Results this week. What do you expect? | brexitplus
08/6/2018 23:04 | Meanwhile, you're back! Can you do one of those ridiculous calculations for us to celebrate your return? Go on, pllleeeaaasssseee? | gettingrichslow |
