Melrose aren't killers but they are very greedy and are part of the problem of society routing wealth to the wrong areas with no moral or reasoned rationale other than greed.

Don't let your returns from Melrose shares poison your moral compass!

Don't capitulate so easy to the money god!

Let your children be proud of you! Don't BUY their respect! 'Earn' it!

Also, the company I founded contributed to reducing carbon emissions and also helped disabled people. I now run a charity.

So, nice try to discredit me, or make me look a hypocrite, but your effort = FAIL!

You will probably not understand this but there is a vast difference between someone like me, and my fellow directors, who founded a company from scratch and created wealth and those of Melrose who exploited the low cost of capital to extract wealth.

Wealth creation VS wealth extraction!

You haven't grasped the concept of wealth creation at all!

Here is a clue, all because you made money out of Melrose and those executives made £47m each doesn't mean any wealth was created - now go and figure!

Minerve, as an engineer you will no doubt understand the term 'oscillatory unstable'. I'm afraid that is what you are becoming. It was only a few weeks ago you were telling us how you had bought a $1.4 million pad in Florida with some of your loose change. Now suddenly you are holier than thou on every subject and anyone who does anything vaguely ostentatious is an absolute disgrace (apart from Meanwhile of course). Hardly consistent is it?

Minerva That is indeed a shocking story and the NHS needs a big overhaul looking into wasted money. I have nothing but sympathy for the boys family. However it really has nothing to do Melrose and I really don't think we can blame the directors for it. Fat cats they are, greedy probably, killers .. no!

Boy dies, but who cares, right? Life is wonderful!

Let us carry on rewarding Melrose executives £47M a year.

They deserve it AND THEY NEED IT! Who is going to buy a Sunseeker Yacht, or something like that, if they don't? After all, who is going to miss that kid? Just one of those things! Nevermind eh, not our kid, not our problem! Right?

NHS underfunding is not happening and it was a mistake that had nothing to do with overburdened services. Nothing at all. A simple mistake!

Back to Melrose, they are amazing! I mean, looking down the income statement and finding something, somewhere, where they can save cost is truly amazing! Sack a person here, stop R&D there, just focus on core stuff. Maybe pay a bit of the millions of debt off too! Of course we forget that they were the ones who added humongously to that debt in the first place. They are our buddies, and they look cute in that photo, so we don't mind!

There is no link, no link whatsoever, between rewarding the few and rationing the many, right?

Great weekend, and nothing to worry about. Conscience free. Wonderful life! Yeah!

Agreed. Trading update will be interesting, and we may hear something about Ergotron.

Ok. I won’t sing, just for you!!!

If I did it would be the Kinks, “Lazing on a sunny afternoon.”

Oh, puhleeeze B+, don't you start with this bleddy singing malarkey!

In reality, the AQR short can probably be disregarded as it is a couple of years old and never likely to come to any fruition, especially now.

In which case, the share price is destined for 'One Direction', "The only way is up....."

B+ - "I will have BBC 24 hours news on throughout the day to make sure I don’t miss any up to the minute gloom and despondency. Contact with happy people will be minimised."

Well you've made me happy and smiling with that comment - does that mean we can no longer 'chat' on here ;-)

Yes, have been falling. From here the share price should be more stable as shorts have mostly sorted out their positions.

I feel a song coming on!,,,

Can this be right? Only 1.43% shorts held in MRO - AQR and P. Schoenfield listed (0.89 and 0.54% respectively). Short Interest Tracker don't report shorts under 0.5%.

That's a huge change from pre-deal days when Melrose were being shorted to just a tad under 7.5% (Sept - Dec '17)

AQR are hanging on to (part of) their short raised in Aug 2016 when betting against the Nortek deal. That worked, didn't it?

I'm that star up in the sky
I'm that mountain peak up high
Hey I made it, hmm
I'm the worlds greatest
I'm that little bit of hope
When my back's against the ropes
I can feel it, hmm
I'm the worlds greatest........

Minerve, I know you prefer R Kelly but here are the John Denver lyrics for you:

Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue ridge mountains, Shenandoah river
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia
Mountain mamma, take me home
Country roads

B+, sounds fantastic, that's the way to live, Minerve take note! On coach on way to Siena, had rainy morning but sun now out, 24 degrees, and cypress trees are lining the tracks up to beautiful farmhouses all around. 'Almost heaven' as John Denver once sang...

Almost right.

Up at 7am. Baking done, car washed, planting in the garden now but just popped in for a cappuccino. Walking later. Not dining out. Salmon this evening at home. Nice. Sauvignon Blanc to do with it!!!

Beautiful day, wonderful life. Swallows in the sky. What more could you want?

I thought you had a busy day, cooking, gardening, walking and dining out?

Or have you just popped in the house for a top-notch espresso and heated croissant for brunch?

Love this from the FT

“Mike Turner is spoken of as a possible next head of Barclays. Before deciding, the bank’s search consultants might look at succession planning, corporate responsibility and use of shareholders’ money at GKN. It’s not a pretty sight.”

Ideal for Barclays I would have thought!!!

MW - you are probably the biggest contributor to most of the dross on this board.
It would be fantastic if you would give it a rest and concentrated your efforts on wallet maintenance, monkey nut supplies/suppliers, relentless boasting about how your wedge is bigger than anyone else's (without the faintest idea on anyone else's wealth)and concentrate on improving your maths knowledge.

I thought/hoped you were going to leave some time ago. What changed your mind??
