MEANWHILE ref. Ans No. 2 since this is supposed to be an investors board may I congratulate you on never owning a dog. I've had too many to mention 'tho ID Data isone that will haunt me forever haha.

If you've never owned a dog of the cannine variety that's fine also (like your choice of people to chat to on here) but I cannot resist saying that a dogs loyalty far outweighs that of most ('tho not all) two legged humans.

Now that I've a bit of spare time on my hands, I thought I could begin to answer all those silly questions that 'getting' asked me during his lively period, a few weeks ago.
I'll try to answer in sequence, with the 1st two.

Ans. 1. Yes, 250p and upwards.
Ans. 2 No, I've never owned a dog.

Losos,
You're a good fellow and I get the general drift of what you're saying.

Most of what I say on here is said just to keep the pot boiling.

B+ "I really like big dogs"

So do we :-) Dogs replicate the 'pack' that they live with. If the owners are kind and provide all they need (Which is not a lot) then they will remain faithfull and true for ever, if they are maltreated they will for ever be suspicious of humans.

MEANWHILE - Don't have a problem with who you talk to on here, for myself I prefer to avoid the bad language scenario, it has never impressed me, so if you can 'see over that' then it's fine, I can't haha.

B+ Post 3546 thanks again, good statement from Melrose and I am fully up to speed on the 'admission to trading' thing haha. Very pleased to see they are if anything more optimistic than before the bid.

Mr. Miller is quite right, there are always people at the production / design level who can see how to improve things, usually they just need a bit of encouragement and sometimes investment to make things better. Seems to me that MRO are going to target all the people in GKN who actually make things and get them to make them better.

The honeymoon continues.
As it begins to tail off, with a bit of indifferent news or comment, we'll be getting into a good selling period.

If getting is still out there, and listening, I think this answers one of your questions of several weeks ago.

Well that's the first lot of 'redundancies', it will not be the last. At least they can afford to be without employment in this particular case.

I must admit, they write a good story. They are certainly good competition for Elon Musk for the Jackanory award of the year.

New interim board of GKN - Crawford is the Melrose legal man and Barnes the Melrose treasurer.

It will be interesting who the non-execs will be and if anyone from GKN joins the board.

Interesting times ahead.

Offer declared unconditional in all respects

Melrose is pleased to announce that its Offer for GKN is now unconditional in all respects following the satisfaction of the Admission Condition.

Earlier today 2,468,470,543 New Melrose Shares were admitted to listing on the premium segment of the Official List of the UKLA and were admitted to trading on the London Stock Exchange's main market for listed securities in respect of valid acceptances for 1,460,633,457 GKN shares received as at 12.00 p.m. on 18 April 2018, representing approximately 84.97 per cent. of the voting rights of GKN. The cash element of the consideration will be settled or despatched by no later than 3 May 2018 in respect of valid acceptances received by 12:00 p.m. on 18 April 2018.

GKN Shareholders who have not accepted the Offer are urged to do so as soon as possible in accordance with the instructions set out in the Final Offer Document.

Update on GKN

Melrose's early stage review of GKN has confirmed its Board's conviction of the extent of the opportunity to improve GKN's business for the benefit of its shareholders and wider stakeholders. Melrose looks forward to transforming GKN through operational improvements, investment, new leadership and a fundamental change in culture, so that GKN's businesses can reach their full potential.

Melrose intends, on Tuesday 24 April 2018, to update the markets with a short statement covering GKN trading for the 13 week period from 1 January 2018 to 31 March 2018, a period prior to Melrose ownership. The short GKN trading update next week will be followed by a comprehensive review of GKN performance to be given at the Melrose half year results announcement in early September 2018.

Changes to the Board of GKN

As the Offer has been declared wholly unconditional, Melrose announces that all the members of the Board of GKN have resigned from the Board of GKN plc as of today's date. Melrose thanks each of the GKN Board members for their commitment to GKN. In accordance with the articles of association of GKN plc, Christopher Miller, David Roper, Simon Peckham, Geoffrey Martin, Jonathon Crawford and Garry Barnes have been appointed to the GKN Board for an interim period until such time as the cancellation of the trading of GKN Shares on the London Stock Exchange's main market for listed securities and the cancellation of the listing of GKN Shares on the UKLA's Official List takes effect, expected to be on or around 21 May 2018.

Christopher Miller, Chairman of Melrose said today:

"Today sees the formation of a new manufacturing powerhouse, headquartered in the UK and with diverse operations around the world. Each of these operations has enormous potential and under Melrose ownership we know we can help them fulfil that potential. Every time we have acquired a company, we have found talented and dedicated people at all levels of the business who have been enthusiastic about change. This will be the case at GKN: The knowledge and vision of the GKN teams will find full focus under Melrose and together we will transform the prospects of the business as Melrose has done with all our previous acquisitions.

We have begun our in-depth review and this has confirmed our expectations about the size and scale of the opportunity to create lasting value for shareholders and all stakeholders as we drive the businesses to their full potential.

Investment in R&D, skills, new products and new technology will be at the heart of our programme. As we have said throughout, Melrose manages and operates its businesses as if we were going to own them forever, and we will continue to do so. We will be speaking to customers and suppliers about how we can improve our service to them and drive long term programmes to their satisfaction.

We are pleased to make binding commitments to the UK and other Governments around the world about our commitment to GKN and to national security. We look forward to working closely with those governments as a responsible supplier and corporate citizen.

We would also like to thank GKN for its cooperation over the last three weeks to ensure an efficient transition."

Losos, you keep talking about your beautiful dogs. It’s more interesting than some of the bile posted by some.

On dogs, we spent the weekend with our lovely niece and her Chow Chow, Mabel. Only 8 months old, already large and will grow to be a third to half as big again. Think of they great big poos!!!

The best natured of dogs, with boundless energy, she kept us entertained. I really like big dogs. Little ones I’m not keen on. They get under my feet. Just like little people. I mean little in the ones with the huge egos who put down everyone who disagree with them. I once had a Irish Liverpudlian boss who considered himself as much bigger than anyone else. Fact was he was completely disliked by everyone in the company.

Let's assume that your view of GKN being a poor investment is true - which actually it isn't - but let's assume it is, then can you quote where I said I held GKN for 4 years because that simply isn't true. Most of my holding was bought post the news filtering out of the inventory mess. Probably the same time Melrose decided there was an opportunity here.

Before you come anywhere near my competence as an investor you need to start considering risk management. Investing is not just about making money, it is about managing the risk of losing it too! If you understood that concept you would understand why funds buy assets that yield negative real returns and why pension funds hold stocks like GKN.

Minerve, I can't think of anything more incompetent than investing in GKN for over 4 years! What were you thinking of?? But it explains your general bitterness and the fact you're still posting on here I guess...

B+ "Horrible thing to say by him about your dogs

Just as well I can't read it then haha like Casey my ol' ticker is subject to the docs control and I do have to be careful the BP doesn't rise too much, it would do if I were to read nasty malicious statements such as we have seen in the past from this one poster.

I don't mind people disagreeing with each other and general banter but not necessary to revert to foul mouthed attacks on you and others.

B+ Thanks for thinking of them. Newfies have two coats, an inner one and an outer one so they don't mind the cold, happy to lie in the snow, anything down to minus 20C but now it's warming up we have to make sure there's a cool room in the house with a fan.

I'm having my lunch now, Casey has just plonked himself behind my chair, that is a signal that he's on the lookout for any signs of walkies, he's nearly 11 with a bad heart and arthritus but there's no way he'll ever miss out on his daily walk haha

This post is way off topic but I hope people will understand that these creatures become part of the family so I like talking about them haha.

Maybe, just maybe, if Losos didn't give dogs that inflated position of importance the animal finds itself in our moronic society, he/she may have had time to find out about the issue they asked about the other day. Quite frankly, if they don't know the answer to that question they should not be investing directly in shares, especially an operator like Melrose.

To be fair to Losos he/she doesn't try to hide the fact of their incompetence unlike a few others on this thread.
