08/1/2020 11:35 | Was tempted to buy FINABLR. But what a mess along with NMC. I can't believe the impact of Muddy Waters short on NMC and BUR. BUR is refusing to go up. I hope he stays away from MTRO. | pione3r
08/1/2020 11:30 | Possibly been wound down for a lean sell? Its why i initially just target 10% in anything Never know what the money is after | sentimentrules
08/1/2020 10:46 | I am expecting total revenue to continue to fall over the next 2 years as McColl's continue to close their newsagents and smaller poorly performing stores as their leases expire. In my estimation this will take approximately a further 4 years to complete and will bring down the number of newsagents to between 50 and 70, from the more then 500 they had in 2014, which I think McColl's will keep as these newsagents will be in out of the way locations and tourist spots. The continued reduction in the number of newsagents will also significantly reduce the amount of revenue McColl's gets from News, Chocolate and Tobacco. | loganair
08/1/2020 10:31 | I honestly dont know all that detail. Just saw money piling in at 37.2p zone so, it confirms whatever the bulls may have been thinking there | sentimentrules
08/1/2020 10:27 | If McColl's where in any real trouble or difficulty would Morrison's be trialing a further 20 Morrisons Daily Stores with McColl's? | loganair
08/1/2020 10:25 | Didnt expect that to open today. Anyway see if can get 10% lockdown to start My order is aggressive at 42p resistance just ahead but money seems good enough to go test 46 and assess then | sentimentrules

07/1/2020 19:48 | Some of these stores/shops are also part post offices, some of which appear to be thriving. Does anyone know if these are likely to be on the chopping block? Can't believe they are all profitable. | scobak
07/1/2020 17:38 | Not exactly 2 brokers notes, one is a change it price target and the other is an article written for Motley Fool. | loganair
07/1/2020 17:29 | McColl’s Retail Group (LON:MCLS) had its target price dropped by investment analysts at Peel Hunt from GBX 100 ($1.32) to GBX 70 ($0.92) in a research note issued to investors on Tuesday, December 10th, Stock Target Advisor reports. The brokerage presently has a “buy” rating on the stock. Peel Hunt’s price objective suggests a potential upside of 80.65% from the stock’s previous close. | strutt12
07/1/2020 17:07 | And what did these Brokers say about McColl's? | loganair

07/1/2020 16:25 | Interesting to see there has been 2 x 400,000 Buys this morning. | loganair
07/1/2020 15:28 | Good to hear that the sales are strong in the initial Morrison Daily trial stores and that another 20 stores will be converted throughout January & February. It will be interesting to see what happens in March when the next batch of ex CO OP Nisa supplied stores come up for supply chain change, because if the sales are strong in the Daily conversions, why brand them as anything else? potentially 200+ stores could be re branded here? Its a holding pattern IMO, and yes both parties may want to sell off / close a number of Newsagents and smaller Convenience stores before landing the deal, but strategically Morrison could re brand the smaller stores to their Safeway Daily format to protect their brand, and convert larger stores to Morrison Daily, just like Tesco did with Tesco Express and One Stop with their smaller format stores. This would allow Morrison to scale up their wholesale supply to independent Convenience operators under the Safeway brand, just like Tesco have done with the One Stop franchise. MCLS year end results announce 25th Feb 2020, Morrisons year end results announce 18th March 2020. | cliff edge
07/1/2020 15:17 | MRW wholesale will grow this year with the nearly 300 ex-Co-op McColl's stores being supplied by them from January onwards. | loganair
07/1/2020 15:03 | Not surprising that MRW wholesale LFL growth was impacted by the lower total sales at Mc Colls due to the number of loss making store closures throughout 2019. Mc colls own LFL sales for Q4 were reported as flat, which in the current climate is a reasonable performance. | cliff edge
07/1/2020 14:55 | newsboy - It is OK to be on the smaller side at petrol stations as many people while paying for their petrol maybe just picking up a few little odds and ends rather then doing a shop. There is still the 270 Newsagents that McColl's has which are often tiny mainly selling News, Chocolates and Tobacco which McColl's are desperately trying to reduce from around 60% of revenue to 30% of total revenue. As I previously posted I would think McColl's may wish to keep only 50 or so of their newsagents that are in out of the way locations and tourist spots. | loganair
07/1/2020 14:15 | Loganair you are right about the problem with smaller stores but I note Morrisons are trialling a smaller 'Daily' format with Rontec called 'Morrisons Select' if that trial works then that may be a solution for how to brand the smaller ones | newsboy1
07/1/2020 11:57 | In wholesale we were pleased to grow sales with most of our customers, but overall LFL growth was impacted by the lower total sales at McColl's, as previously reported by McColl's for the period up to 24 November. | strutt12
07/1/2020 10:04 | MRW taking a stake in McColl's would make it too obvious that they intend to buy out McColl's. At the moment Morrison's are keeping their options open when it comes to McColl's and which is better to sell Safeway products in McColl's or to convert McColl's stores into Morrisons Daily. The problem I see is that 1/2 of McColl's stores are really too small to convert into Morrisons Daily. I can not see Morrison's making a move until McColl's have closed a further 150 plus Newsagents and 100 more of their smaller poorly performing convenience stores. Remember Morrison's have been burnt once with their own convenience stores and therefore it seems to me only right and proper for them to be more cautious second time round. | loganair |
