Surely there needs to be a court order before the administration begins. The court hearing is this morning, I believe I read. Unless you've seen a court order already?

For the avoidance of any doubt McColl's is in administration. The administration process is to prevent creditors from taking legal action whilst the company continues to trade. McColl's would be committing a criminal offence under the Companies Act 2006 if it continued to trade whilst unable to service its debts.

How soon McColls comes out of administration is up to the administrators. It is not impossible but highly unlikely the court will discharge the administrators of their official duties whilst there is no surety the creditors will be paid. Asda or Morrisons can promise whatever they like through the national or social media but the creditors/banks are unlikely to agree on anything even full settlement unless enshrined in legal documentation. That is the purpose of the administrators to make legal and enforceable any agreed settlement.

This is how I see things happening when it comes to McColl's.

This morning the courts will formally put McColl's in to administration then with in an hour either EG Group or Morrisons will buy McColl's from the administrators.

A lot of rambling on here today.I just dont know what ppl are expecting, like there's going to be some miracle.The equity is gone, shareholders gone.Whoever puts up the money to stave off total collapse and job losses, will only be putting money to pay off the banks, and to inject the necessary liquidity for operating the business.There will be ZERO for shareholders.I thought people on here were usually smarter than the average man on the street, but hey, possibly not.
