31/10/2010 21:25 | Well the TS said that revenues were 'behind forecast' so I suspect that the problem, if there is one, is not too many customers. I think we may be a bit over a month away from the interims.I believe it possible that the results will show both revenues and profits ahead of last year, and be consistent with the TS. I can't help but think it would create a presentational problem for MBL though. | ![]() kimboy2
31/10/2010 19:30 | With respect how can you be so excited about a few Best Buy stores opening with the as yet unexplained profits warning the elephant in the room. MBL is not short of customers, it may well be that they have too many to cope with. | timesmoney
31/10/2010 12:48 | Now when and where does the next one open! Looks like Derby is next and Nottingham coming... The company has recently announced even more so in the space of the next six months the numbers should double as Croydon this weekend, then Derby in a few weeks, Bristol by year end then Nottingham and Hayes by Spring 2011 and then Rotherham and Enfield later in that year. The rollout can be tracked here.... | ![]() davidosh
31/10/2010 00:23 | Visited the Croydon store today around 3.30 p.m. and it was packed. A lot of deals had sold out by 11 a.m. I was told by some of the staff. You would think that with the advertising they do, they would hold enough stock for at least one full day's business. If they sell out that quickly they could save advertising costs. Everything seemed to be selling so hopefully good for MBL. Now when and where does the next one open! | devymaster
28/10/2010 09:34 | Has the company announced when they will publish interims? 08 was 10th Dec. 09 was 8th Dec. | timesmoney
27/10/2010 23:43 | I forgot to mention that the fifth Best Buy superstore is opening in Croydon this weekend. A four page flyer was delivered through our letterbox yesterday and we live six miles away. There is a two page ad in the local paper too. | ![]() davidosh
27/10/2010 14:20 | Ah ok, hope it all goes well then :-)) | scott84
27/10/2010 14:05 | Hi Mate......not quite yet; aprox. 6 weeks to go! PS First One! | ![]() tanners
27/10/2010 13:59 | Hi Tanners. Are you a daddy again then ? | scott84
27/10/2010 13:26 | Found it on the BUFF thread: tanners - 10 Apr'09 - 01:09 - 116 of 189 Ah Liarspoker......a rite hefty tome that one; I'm currently enjoying it too! Another interesting point is WB's disinclination to diversify or spread the risk - early on in his investment career when he thought he had found a share that was massively discounted (GEICO) he simply bought as much as he could! You've used an interesting analogy in a technology Company that may be going fro profitability to loss making........I'd prefer a Company that over the last 3 years has gone from profit making to even more profit making, is throwing off piles of cash but can stil be bought at the price it was 3 years ago; Music Box Leisure! Perhaps we should have a friendly wager on what fares best.....say by the end of the year; I'll let you pick the prize ;-) Liarspoker - 10 Apr'09 - 09:26 - 117 of 189 edit Ah yes MUBL - I've traded that one successfully in the past. Trading at 2 X net working cap though so perhaps not comparing like for like and more liquid too. Anyhow if you want to have a friendly wager that's fine with me. I don't mind being the underdog. :O) First prize: The honour and glory bestowed upon a stock picker champion. The loser: Get's to roll around in dirt followed by an oil bath after which he has to roll in chicken feathers. Ok a bit extreme maybe but I made a chit load of cash yesterday so I'm in a good mood. :O) Sorry for O/T everyone | ![]() liarspoker
27/10/2010 13:14 | Hmmm....... that does seem to ring a bell Liars, but I seem to recall that the bet ended on 312/12/09 ;-) It may have been detailed on your Net current asset thread.......but I'm sure you'll find it! Well done, Philjeans - great work! | ![]() tanners
27/10/2010 12:43 | So panic over; I'm so relieved , just bought another 5k. Gotta stop doing this. | ![]() philjeans
27/10/2010 12:41 | Yes, I did tanners. :O) .....but I have nothing to do with GE. Edit: I had a friendly competition with someone once involving MUBL and a company I picked ( was it AVR ? ) was the competition with yourself tanners ? If so where did we write the details ? | ![]() liarspoker
27/10/2010 12:39 | Ah now the plot really does thicken.....I'm sure Liarspoker used to hold AVR!! | ![]() tanners
27/10/2010 11:47 | Nice one goonertone Holmes. :0) Kimboy, this is Graham Edwards: | ![]() marben100
27/10/2010 10:58 | I tried the number on Google and I didn't get a hit - wrong format perhaps. It seems the phone number is probably Auckland, New Zealand. If they'd stated that in the RNS I wouldn't have disturbed them - 12 hours ahead of us. | ![]() typo56
27/10/2010 10:51 | Just call me Sherlock. Google the phone number. RNS for Avarae global Coins PLC - Montoya Investments large stake acquired same day as MUBL stake Search Avarae - recent large holding Graham Edwards 2+2 = 17 this is a reorganisation GT | goonertone
27/10/2010 10:46 | Typo56 - 27 Oct'10 - 2817: I just called Guy Walker. He was not prepared to disclose what country Montoya Investments Limited are registered in and didn't seem to feel that shareholders need to know. So much for transparent holdings disclosure! Maybe you should call Peter Cowgill. He is the resident NXD who is also supposed to be monitoring shareholders interests. He must be devoting a considerable amount of time to MBL so I imagine that he might be available to take a call from a concerned shareholder. | ![]() masurenguy
27/10/2010 10:36 | Ha ha ha tell that to MUBL management. Such a laugh after the conference call. | ![]() liarspoker
27/10/2010 10:35 | I just called Guy Walker (the contact name on the RNS) on 00642 1124 1391. He was not prepared to disclose what country Montoya Investments Limited are registered in and didn't seem to feel that shareholders need to know. So much for transparent holdings disclosure! | ![]() typo56
27/10/2010 10:26 | Aren't Sefton isle of mann based. Could be some sort of pincer move. | ![]() miamisteve
27/10/2010 10:13 | FWIW, there is no Montoya Investments in the New Zealand Companies Office Register. | ![]() typo56
27/10/2010 10:02 | no doubt Montoya investments is something to do with him. | ![]() jay083
27/10/2010 10:02 | The Montoya Investments Limited registered in the Isle of Man can't be right, can it? Surely it would be regarded as a bit of an indiscretion to declare a share holding in the name of a company dissolved over 12 years! Unfortunately there are no documents available online from the Isle of Man DED site, presumably because of the age. However, they can supply documents by fax or post. Anyone interested should contact companies@fsc.gov Alternatively, someone could ask MBL? | ![]() typo56
27/10/2010 10:00 | GE must have paid closer to 150p when he bought in on October 5th. If he is connected to Montoya then I would assume that he should declare this as a related transaction although if it is an offshore registered entity then ownership or any other possible connection may never be transparent. If he has exited completely then it hardly constitutes a vote of confidence to be prepared to take a hit approaching £500k in such a short timeframe. I doubt that someone who is a private investor on this scale would be motovated by a 'fit of pique' - I would imagine that he is far to clinical and professional to be driven by that kind of emotional response ! | ![]() masurenguy |
