"chief executive Trevor Allan, who with his brother controls almost 30% of shares."

I think you will find that the interests of the Allan family add up to closer to 40%!

The part I found interesting was:
It is thought the business could be taken private by chief executive Trevor Allan, who with his brother controls almost 30% of shares.

Does the journo (Simon Bowers) read this board or is there any other basis for his speculation ?

I did notice tha lidl now offer DVD rental via post (like lovefilm) Tesco's DVD rental is powered by lovefilm - Is this something we should be / will be involved with ?

I had to smile at this bit...

The company did not mention its Guernsey operations when announcing to shareholders this month that it had struck a deal with Sainsbury.

I rather think in reality it was somewhat different...lol

It would be interesting to know why this journalist has picked up on this story right now. It is not as if all those other well known high street retailers have not been taking advantage of the loophole for years....so why expose it now ? I wonder why Best Buy chose the Hut rather than MBL ? And the big question...How long can Morrisons continue to lag behind without an online offering ? Maybe Matt can give us some answers on Friday ?

Any more coming along for the presentation ?

Well my Toy Story DVD from Sainsbury (or should I say MBL Guernsey!) arrived this morning and it was definitely from the Channel Island with a customs stamp and NO VAT. Nothing arrived yet from BEE. Any more order numbers for Sainsbury ? I will do another order this weekend but I would expect that orders are very rapidly increasing as online Sainsbury users get to know about the Entertainment site.

Geeeeez we are now well past 30 attendees and so this will be the highest attendance for any afternoon presentation I have arranged ...very impressive especially as it is POETS day although maybe that is why everyone can make it.

qvg...To be honest I try to leave it for a few of the others to do a write up purely because it takes more than enough of my time arranging all these events and booking rooms providing lists for reception etc. I am already arranging six other events, presentations, dinners before Christmas and that is not to mention attending Agms, analyst meetings etc. In short ....I am sure one of the other 30 will do something here if only to 'say thanks' for putting it together !

thanks for all your efforts. I would like to attend on 26th, but regret I will be out of the country. Will you be kind enough to do a short summary?

Timesmoney....Nothing cntraversial as that is exactly what a large number of us are doing here. We attend presentations, attend AGMs and generally let the directors know our views. That is why you will see a new non exec appointed shortly and why communication is now rapidly improving. TA is an entrepreneur and MBL is a listed company so there is no reason why there cannot be a happy balance between the two and it just needs closer relations with the other owners IMHO and better corporate governance. Any more Sainsburys order numbers btw guys ?

davidosh I dont want to be controversial for no good reason. But, you talk about 'taking responsibilty for our investments' not 'buying and hoping' and refer generaly to matter that could be summarised as good governace and good communications. All very sensible, but why then invest in MBL who fall foul of these at every turn?

Thanks Aleman...very kind and to be honest I see shareholder 'ownership mentality' and taking close interest as crucial to fostering good relationships with management in small caps. We need to take responsibility for our investments not just buy and hope. The institutions need to sharpen up to of course but there lies the rub and something I am working closely on. These meetings are great for getting to see other serious investors and shareholders in companies and it helps to know who are sensible guys on these boards.

I only put a bit of spare cash in these which didn't amount to much so it is not worth me chasing up meetings and the like but I would just like to say that your efforts are very welcome, Davidosh. It is not only good for MUBL shareholders; the shareholder activism will be noticed by other smallcap directors. Thanks.

There are two Fund managers likely to come to the meeting as well. If you all remember Patrick Evershed came to the last one we had.

Very good news guys...positive moves from MBL again on communication. They have given me two dates for Matt Porter to do a presentation for shareholders on the GMV business, deal with U-Xplore and no doubt the potential white label deals as we have just seen with Sainsbury. The KPMG advisor will also be in attendance due to the takeover panel rules and as the meeting will be at the Brewin HQ in Smithfield I suspect they will have a rep from the broker there too. The date is Friday 26th November at 4.30pm to allow those who are working nearby to attend easily too.

Do state here that you can come and I will create a running list..

engage elsewhere, yeah; conkers in the playground springs to mind for some reason...

Thanks for making the arrangement, David. Could you remind me where/when, so I can see if I can make it? Cheers.
