Yep it went ballistic at the end. As i foresaw. I ended up buying back 200,000 at 59p average

The close here could take some time. Hopefully up a few more pennies when it UT

I think it’ll open up in the 80s on Tuesday I really do

Ive never sold and happily bought back so quickly with so much conviction

I have top sliced some here. Happy to carry some over for next week. Interesting sessions ahead. Congrats to those who caught this. Have a great weekend.

Hmmm, will this give Carlsberg JV a dominant position in the brewing industry in UK? If so, no doubt m'learned friends and others at the Competition and Markets Authority will take an interest. Perhaps make the JV sell off some brands/breweries?

Marston’s, whose pubs business is not part of the joint venture, gets a 40% stake in the Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company plus £273 million. Carlsberg has a 60% stake in the new business.

Brewer Marston’s, which has around 1400 pubs, said the £273 million will help it pay down debts, and the deal will let it concentrate on the estate while retaining a 40% interest in “a larger, more attractive brewing business”.

There’s no way this will be 60p on Monday. I am not sure they can keep it at 60p today even. I think it could close violently

I will be honest i sold all 350,000 @ 58p. I then bought 160,000 back @ 58p when i read that the pube were outside of the deal!

Expect a bid for the pubs next week and spec all weekend

I think fair value is 88p ... dont forget the cash element that they are getting as well as the 40% of the new construct

Absolutely delicious . Expect a spike at close and a gap up at open

Last autumn I mentioned the brands were worth a few bob. Glad to be vindicated, glad I held on, regret my top up in March was so modest and not so well timed as others on this board.

Ft and BBC just released updates. Expect major coverage over weekend and valuations in excess of today’s price and this has not only kept the lights on but breathed new life into this old dog

To be fair to both parties, they kept that well under wraps.

The modest rally seen several days ago piqued my interest...but as distracted as I was didn't investigate too keenly.

Expect major focus / spotlight in both the mainstream and financial press over an extended weekend.

It will focus a lot of minds.

Conference call only started an hour or so ago.

Early days. A new dawn for MARS......even though, in time, the share price was set to regain ground anyway, as we were hitherto seeing.

Jeffian in denial, and I've no doubt he will carry on that way. He has repeatedly encouraged the posters on this board to worry about the debt. From just a few days back.. "This from Young's this morning re Finance and LiquidityhtTps://www.investegate.co.uk/young---38--co--39-s-brew---ynga-/rns/financing-and-liquidity-update/202005130700066950M/If this is indicative of the industry generally, just what MARS doesn't want, you might think - more debt"
