Marakand Minerals Limited ("Marakand" or "the Company") received notification on
10 July 2006 pursuant to the provisions of the Companies Act 1985 that Oxus Gold
Plc and its direct and indirect subsidiaries, being non-beneficial holders, has
increased its shareholding by a further 2,906,407 ordinary shares and now holds
86,659,984 ordinary shares representing 85.78 per cent of the ordinary issued
share capital of the Company.

Cezary - agreed, and it might still happen. If it does, I'm sure we'll find out the reasons for Oxus pulling out and whether or not their actions were justified.

I wonder if there will be trouble with the Uzbeck Govt soon ?

Countries in the area are throwing there weight about it would seem , a la OXS / J saga.

Like some countries in South America , it is not beyond possibility that some of these poor countries in Asia will go the nationalize route with their assets

I think buying MKD as well as poor cash generation by OXS means they had no option but to pull out of there deal with Eurogold

Now a year and three quarters from when they first said they might get permission for their mine. Can they make it two years? Yes I'm sure they can do it.

Cezary - far happier holding MKD than OXS, no atraction to convert and
this has been demonstrated by a dismal OXS performance (in response to
Jerooy and Eurogold issues).


Screen prices MKD 18-19.5p, OXS 50-52.75p

Any further weakness in MKD will be a great buying opportunity, imo
MKD could well be the saving face for OXS!

There should be news from Turkey soon. I had an email from JS a few days ago and it is my understanding that there are only some legal procedures to be completed. It would be nice to hear something positive from MKD (maybe they even give an update on the other projects) even when this project is at a real early stage...
