Sorry BICC and all fellow travellers. I have been away doing my rounds and I have just noticed your query.

It's true! I paid 7.675. I was surprised to be quoted below the mid-price. Arf is right. It should not be difficult to put things right so as not to mislead people. I have a feeling all today's MANA transactions bar one were buys.

Hope it shoots up anyway.

Transparent market? No way! All it needs is for the broker who made the trade to say what sort of trade it is. How hard can it be? It's not rocket science. I've gone on about this before so I'll stop now.

The advfn buy/sell indicator is more trouble than it is worth.

It is purely a software judgement, takes no account of late trades, etc, and is only of some marginal value at the lower end of the AIM (SEAQ) universe of stocks.

It is completely valueless for most of the LSE which use the SETS system.

Best ignored entirely.

The ADVFN trade stack is a simple beast, it merely places trade on the quote side that is nearest to the trade price. I think trades at the Mid are flagged as "?".

At the time of writing you can currently purchase under the Mid price from one Market Maker.

songtrader: what price did you pay. advfn have booked it at 7.675, but their spread is 7.5 / 8.0. So either you got a good price or advfn have misquoted your trade. In which case who is responsible, your broker for issuing wrong information or advfn, or perhaps whoever arranges the transfer of data between the parties. Nothing's simple in this business.
