13/10/2010 08:26 | So hopefully more news this week then. | cagey76
13/10/2010 08:07 | Matty, " This is a good exmaple of how Toronto companies are able to sell new stock into a rising market. You never see that in London." --------- Exactly! here it's the opposite way around! My guess is HAWK is next...... | andy
12/10/2010 21:06 | Lo and behold another placement, this time at 25c: This is a good exmaple of how Toronto companies are able to sell new stock into a rising market. You never see that in London. | mattybuoy
12/10/2010 19:07 | Marvellous, welcome on board :-) When it hits $10 we should go out for a yak steak, if such a thing is to be had anywhere. | mattybuoy
12/10/2010 18:27 | Meritus having a good day, my timing looks ok there. | cagey76
12/10/2010 00:08 | I hadn't noticed, the LME has introduced a Cobalt contract: It currently prices at around $17/lb (more than 60% over nickel). Wouldn't it be nice to find some of that somewhere? | mattybuoy
08/10/2010 09:50 | I did. It's very low grade stuff, much like Batero in fact. Yesterday's results are no different. One of these days I need to do a geology course ... :-) | mattybuoy
08/10/2010 07:45 | Matty did you ever look at Polar Star (PSR) up 50% last night, sounds to me as if they have hit the jackpot. | holism
07/10/2010 21:20 | I think it's probably just Colombia frenzy. Also, I believe that while gold porphry deposits are low-grade, they can be rather large. | mattybuoy
07/10/2010 20:33 | Matty, I know someone who has a connection with Batero, and I don't understand why it's so high either. | andy
07/10/2010 19:51 | Remember Ventana Gold? That was in Colombia. Well here is another one just starting to explore for gold in that country. It only came to market in August, but has already caused a bit of excitement and they have just raised more than $10m without batting an eyelid. I am a bit puzzled as to exactly why though, since what they appear to have is potential low-grade gold porphyries. This however probably just shows how ignorant I am :-) Note: It's not cheap at > $80m market cap. | mattybuoy
07/10/2010 09:47 | cheers guys, I'll continue to watch and research this group, along with GRR & MEX. Meritus does seem to be hotting up, so I'll probably need to decide a bit quicker there. | cagey76
07/10/2010 09:24 | I am now in both Entrée Gold and Meritus. You will need patience with the former, however I have been pleasantly surprised with how interest and trading volumes have been increasing with Meritus. There is commentary on Stockhouse every day now. It's almost becoming a "hot stock", and at $20m or so it's still cheap enough to get in IMO. | mattybuoy
07/10/2010 09:15 | cagey, I hold SLI, and have looked at Grizzly as I have met the CEO a few times recently, but it doesn't look compelling enough for me at the moment, particularly as producers are where the current action is, due to the POG and POS rising so quickly. GRR.v is an early stage explorer with some good grades, and MEX.V looks undervalued for the POTENTIAL, again IMO, and again this is early stage. | andy
07/10/2010 09:09 | Matty, top top thread this, I have been back through all 382 posts over the last 24 hours, there is just a sh1tload of decent picks in here. I went back through looking for some Gold & Silver tiddlers, and found the Mongolian entries staring out at me. Anyone on board any of these; St Elias Grizzly Entree Gold Meritus Minerals and of course the mysterious Dorato. | cagey76
07/10/2010 06:34 | Andy. Thanks for those. Much appreciated. | lufc5
07/10/2010 06:32 | LUFC5 Alexco (AXR.V) is a good start! GPR.V - OK.V - ORM.V (punt) are a few worth reading up on, IMO. | andy
07/10/2010 00:23 | Matty. Do you have any nice undervalued silver beauties that I could muse over at the weekend? Producing now or within 6-12 months would be good. Cheers. | lufc5
06/10/2010 23:34 | Also, from the Indian press today, on the front page of the "Business Standard": In a recent presentation to analysts in Canada, Niko Resources CEO Edward S Sampson said, "I feel it's twice the size of D6. We feel we have got prospectivity potential for up to 100 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas. It would change India." Lovely :-) | mattybuoy
06/10/2010 23:16 | Jolly good :-) Tag Oil continues to rise. Here are the warrants (which I can't buy, grr): The exercise date is 15/11/2011 and the strike price is $3.60 | mattybuoy
06/10/2010 22:56 | Some of my mining stocks did well in Canada today! Alexco went up 26% after some impressive drilling intersects. A couple of my gold juniors were up 29% and 25.9% respectively. Wish I had a few more days like this! | andy

01/10/2010 21:39 | This is an interesting story: Canadian Zinc has a ready-made high-grade zinc/lead/silver mine up in the NWT which was built by the Hunt brothers in 1980 as part of their (failed) attempt to corner the silver market, but it was never brought into production. It has been a long time coming, but with luck and a following wind it looks like mining might be on the cards in the next couple of years. This is some of the richest rock to be found anywhere in Canada, and the resource has gotten 5 times bigger during the long dormant period, with potentially more to come. Read all about it here: In addition, there is a 15% stake in Vatukoula Gold Mines, which I'm sure needs no introduction. I like it, and it seems like I'm not alone. | mattybuoy
30/9/2010 21:58 | I like this one Had a small stake since haring an interview with norman Brewster early jan, it's been largely underwater since, but besides other silver and gold they have some very interesting tungsten prospects and the market seems to fianally be waking up to it given the china demand. Well i doubled up today, so no apologies for giving them a plug ;) | riggerbeautz
30/9/2010 19:49 | I like this one. It's sort of a venture capital fund but they are also doing their own oil and gas drilling. All in under-exploited Saskatchewan. If you do look at it as a fund the discount to NAV is about 50%. | mattybuoy |
