12/9/2010 18:51 | This one perhaps? Trying to follow in Aurelian's footsteps ... | mattybuoy
12/9/2010 18:06 | Andy & Mattybuoy Agree that's the only things I can find also. I was recently on a mining camp in Africa and one of the geologists mentioned this....it was over a few beers etc so maybe spelling etc is not quite right as I didn't have time to write anything down!! I do have the business cards etc so will just have to go back and follow up. Thanks guys and will let you know if it has potential. | goldrush
12/9/2010 13:34 | The only Dorita gold project in Peru that I can find is a JV between Newmont and a local Peruvian company called Milpo, listed on the Lima exchange. | mattybuoy
12/9/2010 13:24 | cagey, I do indeed like Petrobank, Peyto and the others, and will look to return to them at some point. It's the natural gas glut that has me running scared though. What I realised is that it's not just Canadian gas that's stranded on the North American continent it's oil too, and there is every possibility that a localised oil glut might arise. Indeed the inventories at Cushing have been in this state for ages, but WTI pricing has not reflected this for some reason. Now I don't see these over-supply situations persisting long-term, but for now I think I'd rather stay away. If you look at the oil companies in the pie chart, ignoring Cairn which is a "special situation" you basically have Niko and Tag Oil. Both of which are directly plugged into the Asian oil & gas markets. | mattybuoy
12/9/2010 11:12 | goldrush, Anything you could add? Where did you hear about the company or the mine? A quick Google doesn't find it but a bit more information would help possibly. | andy
12/9/2010 07:48 | Matty I am trying to track down a company on the Venture which is developing a gold mine project called Dorita in Peru.I cannot seem to find it on google. This is all the info I have at the moment.Any help in finding it would be appreciated. g | goldrush
12/9/2010 06:21 | Why getting out of North America Oil ? I thought Petrobakken and the like were long term favourites. | cagey76
09/9/2010 21:00 | Niko doubles its dividend ... | mattybuoy
08/9/2010 23:36 | I am stupendously bullish on all forms of natural resources long-term. Gold and silver I like equally. As to "rare metals" uranium (and maybe thorium) would be the kiddy, since it has a chance of being the answer to both peak oil and climate change. I'm not thinking short term there though, more like in 5-10 years time when our appalling situation is more acknowledged. If you meant REEs then these are obviously a no-brainer, but I struggle to find a company in the space that really floats my boat. For anything else, I will always prefer poly-metallic deposits due to the natural embedded hedges. | mattybuoy
08/9/2010 23:14 | Matty. How bullish or(for that matter) bearish, are you on silver in general? My opinion FWIW is that silver has more upside than gold. However I would also be very interested in what your favourite rare metals are? Many thanks. Lufc5. | lufc5
08/9/2010 22:40 | In a rather boring manner, Continental Nickel has found yet more zones of high-grade nickel sulphides at the Nkata intrusion: Trading at over 50c now for a whopping market cap of C$25m or so. | mattybuoy
08/9/2010 20:37 | Nuukfjord Gold has gotten decidedly strange, renaming itself to Revolution Resources and moving to North Carolina, so I have deleted it. | mattybuoy
08/9/2010 14:47 | Good news at Alto ventures if anyone is interested ATV:TSX-V got a small holding there. | riggerbeautz
07/9/2010 19:17 | Yes ACG was a classic spikey job. I managed to get out with a few cents profit. Not my usual type of thing at all really. cagey, All the royalty companies are beautiful as long as they have growth prospects, which Silver Wheaton does in spades. It's just getting started really. Read below for one pundits extreme enthusiasm for the royalty business model. | mattybuoy
07/9/2010 07:35 | ACG got smashed I see... | jonno1
07/9/2010 07:20 | I hadn't heard of 'Royalty' before, just looking into it now. Matty, you have SIlver Wheaton as a beauty, the price keeps going up, does it remain a beauty or has that changed with it being worth so much more now ? | cagey76
06/9/2010 23:17 | Just for the record here is a list of all the Royalty Companies that I can find. Not a huge bunch considering its the best business model on the planet. They are all beauties really. What is odd though is the vast disparity in valuations. Go figure ... I would like to own all of them, and maybe one day I will :-) ALS - Altius Minerals (mostly base metals) APY - Anglo Pacific (diversified) FNV - Franco-Nevada (gold focus) FRU.UN - Freehold Royalty (oil & gas) GLW - Gold Wheaton (gold focus) RGL - Royal Gold (gold focus) SLW - Silver Wheaton (silver focus) TNX - Tanzanian Royalty Exploration (base & precious metals in Tanzania) If anyone knows of any others please do pipe up. | mattybuoy
04/9/2010 08:33 | liquid m, Yes a good result there, and some huge rises in some stocks in Canada this week, but sadly not the ones I hold! Kaminak continue northwards at a great rate of knots, ATAC is climbing everest, ACP doubled this week, AXR had another decent rise, and some of the rare earth stocks took off like rockets! Kaminak is being mentioned by the Coffins, who have a great reputation. I'm looking at Riverstone Resources next. | andy
03/9/2010 22:35 | Looks like a good deposit, but I'm not too keen on Armenia or that part of the world in general. GLTA though, as they over on SH in their more lucid moments :-) | mattybuoy
03/9/2010 21:40 | Well well less than a month ago i mentioned a Canadian listed Gold play by the name of Lydian International / ticker LYD at sub C$1 This TSX listed [ISAble] stock closed up by some 24% tonight at an all time high of C$2.30! Brokers are upping their share price targets to as high as C$5 - if you like real assets such as Gold then i strongly suggest that you take a very close look at LYD P.S. - many UK brokers will deal in TSX stocks - the best natural resources plays are nearly all listed in Canada IMHO | liquid millionaire
02/9/2010 14:05 | Broker Note on LYD.. | skiboy10
01/9/2010 23:07 | Do you like Uranium? Molybdenum? Nickel? Vanadium? New "bio-leaching" processing technologies? Perhaps you fancy owning what may well be the largest known uranium deposit in a friendly jurisdiction? Well look no further than the two companies below, who are neighbours operating in Sweden: Combine the two projects and you are talking about billions of pounds of near-surface easily minable uranium. The only problem is that the grade is considered rather low and at current uranium prices is uneconomic. Though it's possible that the moly/nickel by-products and improved processing technology might have something to say about that. I think it's a no-brainer that in 5-10 years time, due to peak oil and CO2 emissions the world will be crying out for every pound of uranium it can lay its hands on. So if you agree then these two stocks are a highly-leveraged way to bet on that theory. | mattybuoy
30/8/2010 20:26 | This'll cheer you up, amongst all the tedious "deflation panic" over in the US. The theory is that due to what happened in 2008 where loads of mining and oil projects got pulled, and with ever increasing demand from Asia, we are guaranteed price spikes in various commodities in a couple of years time. Note: Markets today - Dow minus 140, TSX plus 15. One of those rare truth days :-) | mattybuoy
27/8/2010 10:10 | Alexco resources [TSX.V - AXR] having a nice rise in the last few days! Final water permit in place, now it's all systems to go to commission and commence production for November 2010. Still looking significantly undervalued IMO, 7 million ounces of production at negative cost next year is good for a start! Silver Wheaton take 25% of that @ $3.90, but only 57 million shares in issue as a result! My recent entry at $3 looks prudent now, and I have been topping up recently too, so was pleased to see the rise yesterday evening just after I had finished topping up! | andy |
