"Resource stocks, which earn their revenue in dollars and pay their costs in rand, lifted the bourse due to the weaker rand."

"the platinum index jumped 7.21% as investors opted for resource stocks which will benefit from currency weakness."

The weaker rand benefiting platinum miners...

"The JSE reached an all-time high on Thursday, as the weaker rand lifted rand hedges and resource stocks."

"Mining stocks were buoyed as a result of the weaker rand, with platinum miners in particular benefiting."

Although a lower Rand is obviously helpful what you don't want is for the currency to plummet as this would stoke massive internal inflation and wage demands/strikes.

patience is the key here....there's no indication Q4 and finals on 13/11 are going to differ much from what has already been declared. All speculation and investors keep saying the palladium price is in a bubble and will drop, but what is going to cause the palladium price to collapse?.The metal is in a supply deficit and global demand is growing for it.The pd price should create a strong support level for platinum prices. If only the investment demand for platinum could rise to match gold's precious metal safe haven status,we'd be laughing here now.How can the price difference between gold and platinum be so massive now? Platinum jewellery and investment demand is relatively woeful.

The Rand is getting hammered this morning. Apparently on rumours that Cyril Ramaphosa is about to be replaced as Deuty President. Hes a candidate in the ANC leadership elections in December and not Mr. Zumas favourite. Also, the left-wing Finance Minister is announcing his fist Budget on Wednesday next week. This could be the start of a sustained fall in the Rand. Im no chartist but the platinum price support looks pretty solid just 3-4% below current l

Higher highs and higher lows. The uptrend since bottoming is quite clear . Staying long is my opinion here of the right thing to be .
