I know PIC is a big shareholder but the new black ownership rules are going to make long term finance harder to raise. Everything seems to be conspiring against this company at the moment. Apart from the shareholders whom the government do not care about there are 30,000 employees you would think they were important. Without help the future of Lonmin will be to close down and then create the conditions to force the price of platinum higher with production shortages.
if one major has to close then Lonmin looks the most likely the others have more cash reserves or have lower costs.

that is true of all assets for every company.
what are Shell or BP assets worth if oil was $30 barrel.
what are Apple's assets worth if the market price of smartphones halved.?

So by assets you mean metal in the ground? On paper it may be worth a lot but since Lonmin cant mine it profitably in reality it is worthless. So the value of the company reflects the real situation.
