31/7/2009 18:57 | ... and the chart is seemingly looking good: | mike111d
31/7/2009 18:43 | All told, a very satisfying week with IMHO more to come. | mike111d
31/7/2009 17:02 | S-E. Now you have sold some, what are you going to buy next. Perhaps by Wednesday or Thursday something will shine like a light in the dark. | a0502162
31/7/2009 16:38 | Bountyhunter. I think you are right to stay out. You can read the updated chart in two ways, 1 a break out or 2 a steady decline with rises in between. I'm watching for the next fall and in the meantime, have good weekend. | a0502162
31/7/2009 12:53 | yes it was a tough lesson learned for sure! | bountyhunter
31/7/2009 12:42 | I was working in Logica when the 'dotcom boom' was in full flow. I worked out that my share options would be worth over £200k but how wrong can you be. This current rise is the first we have for a very long time and I have used to opportunity to sell a few. | selborne_edge
31/7/2009 12:25 | so far, so good. | mike111d
31/7/2009 11:50 | About bloody time and all; it's been painful recently watching the wider market rise with Log stuck in the dulldrums. This breakout is really promising. It's time for tech stocks to lead the market higher imho. | aioannou
31/7/2009 11:19 | interesting debate; I don't hold these any more but remember the days when these shares rocketed (and then dramatically collapsed) back in the dotcom boom and bust nearly a decade ago now; for those interested I've updated the second chart in the scroll down window to show back to the time around 2005 when this share seemed to be oscillating around 176p for what seemed like ages which was when I got bored with this company... good luck to those who hold; something seems to be happening here - the price must be going up for a reason but I don't know what it is unless there is a deal in the offing or a preditor around? I have no knowledge of such a situation so I'm staying out. | bountyhunter
31/7/2009 10:14 | Out of Segro.........forget the divi..........I wonder what will be cheap on Monday? All exciting stuff. Good luck to you all, however you may trade or not as the case may be. | a0502162
31/7/2009 07:30 | Glad you've cleared that up, I take it all back. Well most of it anyway. So robwt, why move back to london, you could still trade shares from France, or anywhere else for that matter? With me it's not a need to get in and out quickly, I simply enjoy the play of it all. Never have had much faith in most of the guys running British companies so for me to get out with a profit every time, sorry nearly every time, puts a smile on my face. It also means I can do virtually anything I want to, which I enjoy the feeling of freedom that gives. | a0502162
30/7/2009 22:50 | Selborne; Yes, what a shower of fakes and frauds. Marconi was indeed brought down by the rotten management of Lord Simpson and Co. Read, near as dammit would have brought Logica down with his profligate spending. Like many others, I cheered when he got his marching orders. Read and Simpson, two men with very limited ability who won the jobs lottery. I have a Golden rule these days and it has never lets me down. As soon as I see large companies sponsoring sports, I do not go near their stock. Marconi, RBS, Northern Rock, HBOS to name but a few were all major sports sponsors. Idiot management who will spend millions chasing glamour instead of profits. I remember being at Silverstone in the late 90s when Marconi had a about 500 guests in a circus tent, all being wined and dined with shareholders funds. So take note Andy Green, if I see the Logica logo on the t-shirt of a UK tiddlywink champion, I will be gunning for you. | robwt
30/7/2009 21:16 | Sorry robwt, I got it wrong. You seemed to know so much about the antics of Martin Read and his Marconi cahoots so that I assumed you must have worked in Logica. | selborne_edge
30/7/2009 20:16 | A0, hand on heart. I have never worked for Logica. Logica bought a company I had a stake in back in 1998. They paid top dollar and along with my business partners I took cash and paper. I sold the bulk of my holdings many moons ago and moved down to Monte Carlo where we lived until 2005. Still had a house in London and came back in 2005. Thing is A0, I have traded millions of shares in Logica over the years. I don't need to get in and out of positions, I can tell you without looking at my records back in 98 I was selling at between £16-£20 per share. Selborne is shrewd enough to spot that I have an insider knowledge of Logica and the IT industry. I posted a few weeks ago that Logica would break 96p, if they do not I will put some salt and pepper on my hat and eat it. | robwt
30/7/2009 20:06 | A0502162, I think that you have me confused with others. My interest stems from the recent lows earlier this year and an insight into what AG had in mind. I do believe that this has much further to run over the coming months and into 2010. | mike111d
30/7/2009 18:20 | A0, There is only one l in successful and one b in boring. | robwt
30/7/2009 17:48 | I know................ My life is interesting, more than you would ever know, in fact......you don't even know from where in the world I am writing this. The one golden rule about investing is use your head not your heart............... | a0502162
30/7/2009 17:28 | No AO, we are not the same person, although I suspect that we might both have worked in Logica at some time. I worked in Logica for 10 years, enjoyed it and I have a lot of affection for the Company. Hence my interest and of course find the whole business of share investment absorbing. Making money is all very well but there are many other equally interesting things in life. Here endeth the lesson. Good luck A05. | selborne_edge
30/7/2009 16:54 | Came back earlier than I expected. I think you will find that robwt has been predicting LOG would rise since 2006!! Bound to get it right once. Anyone who can't take a little good advice or learn a new trick is already dead. S-E and robwt ..................yo By the way, when did you guys stop enjoying life,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Bye bye.........boys and girls..bye bye. | a0502162
30/7/2009 11:12 | It always surprises me that so many subscribers to these pages make the predictions they do. Particularly at this time when the market is in such an unpredictable state. However your prediction robwt that Logica would rise have proved to be correct. Lets hope the current progress will be maintained. | selborne_edge
30/7/2009 08:36 | Mike111D Disgruntled I am not, I have no reason to be. In fact I've never been happier. It's just can't understand anyone just sitting around hoping and praying that one day the share they bought will go up again and return to somewhere near the levels they bought at. Sell it and move on. Talking to management in my opinion is a complete waste of time...............d You create your own luck un this world and if you don't and end up loosing then you shouldn't blame anyone else but yourself (the last bit was for robwt). Just think, if you had sold when last did, then bought them back after the drop,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I can't be bothered to waste my time on here any more but I might return in the furure just to say I told you so. ps: Segro is a winner also! | a0502162
29/7/2009 19:56 | A0502162, you do appear to be rather disgruntled for wahtever reason. This is certainly looking good from the recent lows and has further to run IMO. Have you attempted to speak with the management to get a better understanding of the plans that they are executing against, you may find this of interest if you have not. | mike111d |
