28/9/2009 12:30 | A0, buy PUTS......retail sector. | robwt
28/9/2009 09:05 | In my opinion, every fall is a buying opportunity, when it hits the bottom. Plain logic really. As for technology outperforming, well as most other sectors, banking, construction etc are well out of favour it's just about the only sector left worth a punt. Nobody knows nothing............. | a0502162
27/9/2009 17:37 | There was an analyst on Bloomberg the other day saying the S&P was going to drop to 400 points in the next twelve months. Later the same day Warren Buffet was being interviewed, he said he was pretty sure the markets were due for a fall, but he added in his opinion it would be a buying opportunity as more laggards jumped aboard for the coming bull run. Buffett also said that he thought Technology was going to outperform other sectors as companies go forward into the future. First time I have ever heard Buffett bullish on technology. Still you pays your money and you takes your choice. Like the movie mogul Jack Warner used to say, nobody knows nothing. | robwt
26/9/2009 13:19 | And fall it will! | a0502162
21/9/2009 10:31 | It is so difficult to predict whether we are in a bear market or the start of a bull market. QE, low interest rates and current UK political uncertainties all add to the turmoil. My guess is that there is a 30% chance that the market will fall but only time will tell. | selborne_edge
18/9/2009 11:56 | Selborne, if this is a bear market rally it must be one of the best in recent history. IMO I think it is the start of a bull market. The Fed let Lehman Bros go to the wall, the market reaction to that decision was meltdown. After a few months and their books were looking better, a lot of the smart money realised the meltdown was overdone and have been making record returns. The doom mongers who have gone short are having the pips squeezed out of them. It is only my humble opinion, but there is still an awful lot of cash on the sidelines and equities are still looking very cheap. | robwt
18/9/2009 10:12 | China, HK and Japanese indices were all down so this fall-back seemed likely. Very difficult to predict where the market will go next week. | selborne_edge
17/9/2009 17:26 | With you all the way robwt; there has to be something going on. I have sold 2000 shares just in case the market collapses but that scenario seems unlikely. The conflicting opinions of the media and professional analysts are not much help either. | selborne_edge
17/9/2009 08:29 | Looking good :-) | mike111d
16/9/2009 16:39 | Selborne, if Logica are able to maintain this rise, it will put them into the FTSE 100 at around 95. Their Mkt Cap is close to £2.3 billion with today's 5% plus rise. They have had a fantastic run in the last couple of months. I have learned not to count chickens, but it does seem there is something positive happening. Even though we might see a slight correction soon, I think techs will come out better than most. | robwt
16/9/2009 11:45 | Another very good rise in the share price which supports the possibility that a bid is being prepared. We clearly need to watch this space ! | selborne_edge
15/9/2009 15:14 | Looks like BAE is out of the frame!! | a0502162
13/9/2009 20:23 | The DT article is most interesting and very much supports the impression Logica has been giving in recent months - cost saving, moving the HQ, etc. The other possibility is a takeover by BAE. We can but hope! | selborne_edge
13/9/2009 14:13 | Reading the above is spot on with this piece from the FT. Tech funds are tipped to outperform. | robwt
12/9/2009 21:18 | Sanjeev Shah, manager of the Fidelity Special Situations: "One of the four key areas of interest for me when picking stocks for the fund is corporate activity potential. "One of my top 10 bets is Logica, the IT contracting company. I originally invested in the company as a 'recovery' situation. Recent management restructuring and cost cutting have been successful and the company now has a sustainable model. They maintained good revenue growth throughout the first part of the year and order flows have continued to improve. I believe the turned-around company could be a potential M&A candidate in future." | rogsim
11/9/2009 10:45 | This whole market seems terribly high to me. Not good at all. | a0502162
11/9/2009 08:13 | I sold a 1000, at a loss of course but on the basis that if the share price suddenly collapsed I would be able to get in at a lower level. Lets hope that the latter scenario does not happen ! | selborne_edge
10/9/2009 21:37 | It certainly has been a solid and sustained rise. | mike111d
09/9/2009 16:31 | What a transformation for the Logica share price Its been a long wait and lets hope this order of progress will continue. Nothing further has been heard from BAE and the possibility of a takeover of Logica. Such a takeover would make a lot of sense. I once had some shares in British Leyland, which was taken over by BAE but that takeover proved to be unsuccessful. | selborne_edge
06/9/2009 12:06 | We do have to bring it down to the one level that you are quite good at..........typing.. Besides, it's for girls. | a0502162
06/9/2009 11:53 | It would help if you were able to write them correctly. | robwt
