25/11/2024 16:42 | Black Horse 400mill thats all ... if and when ffs | squire007
25/11/2024 16:12 | I certainly wouldn't want an EV given it's limited range, but it is fine for this short delivery round. But if you're paying circa £45k for a vehicle you're not getting much versatility for your money. I'm quite sure the car I have used is leased, and it will be interesting to see what they do when renewal comes up, at least they won't have to take a huge capital loss, that'll be the problem of the leasing company, which being a Peugeot will likely ultimately be the French taxpayer under writing it. | lefrene
25/11/2024 15:58 | Tbf I can appreciate EV's are probably perfectly acceptable down south like moisturising & wearing shurts wi stripes, it's probably a cultural/ regional difference. | utrickytrees
25/11/2024 15:43 | exactly Gecko. Stupid comment from UT Why? Not all EV owners are cringey limp wristed noncebags! | rackersthedon
25/11/2024 15:20 | Whites123 Proud to be a Reform Member and Voter. PS: Gecko, I to have not looked in on PFC. :-) My time there was I feel wasted as it was not purely investment purposes that kept me there. :-) (I think you knew and understood that). Same regarding the opener. I hope you have sold your PFC as things look worse by the day given the ever frequent "forebearance rollovers" | geckotheglorious
25/11/2024 15:17 | Utrickytrees Post 399163 I'm very suspicious of anyone in an EV. Why? Not all EV owners are cringey limp wristed noncebags! Was hoping to get a Cybertruck myself - sadly unlikely to be for sale in Uk any time soon! | geckotheglorious
25/11/2024 15:16 | psychochopper Post 399126 Gecko, the early version, prior to Ford buying Jaguar (remember that?) was both unreliable and badly made. But mine was a 1994 build and was far superior. But compared with the 1997 XK8, it was clearly not in the same league. However, it had far more charm and I have fonder memories of it. Haha werent most British made cars unreliable back then....1990, so long ago now eh. Never owned a Jag myself but always contemplated one of the morse style ones. Wouldnt dream of buying a modern one, especially an EV version. I think the guy who looked over the XJS in Morocco would have asked for more than one can of beans if it was only the XK8. If it was this new Jaguar horror (one comment was that it looked like an air conditioning unit), he would likely slit my throat. Guffaw. Surely not that bad. | geckotheglorious
25/11/2024 14:13 | Nothing much to go wrong with a diesel if its oil is changed regularly. | utrickytrees
25/11/2024 14:12 | a peugeot what do you expect? | rackersthedon
25/11/2024 14:11 | I suspect in part, the fall in price of EV's to parity with petrol/ diesel is in no small part due to a reduction in quality of the batteries. I've had a jbl portable speaker for a couple years now and it hasn't held any charge for about 18 months only works when plugged into the mains. I suspect buyers of cheap EV's like tge Peugeot or new mini will get a couple of years max before they start to see noticeable reductions in range. | utrickytrees
25/11/2024 13:50 | I have recently been using an EV for a delivery round, and sure enough the thing whilst good in parts is as competent a liar as Starmer. The round is just 90 miles, and the car at the start of the day says 185 miles available. At the end of the 90 miles it's down to 60 or 40 miles available, depending upon how hard the heater has to work. So the reality is, that when it says 185 miles available, in real world reality there's about 135 miles available. Unless of course you turn the heating up, or go in for a bit of rapid acceleration, then you could run out of AMPs before the 90 mile job is done. On one recent cold day, I had to turn the heat right down, and accelerate like a 2CV, just to make sure I could get back to base. The owner assured me that when it got too low it would go into 'emergency' mode, with no heating and very limited performance for about 30 miles before it would cease to proceed. (it's a Peugeot SUV style thing) | lefrene

25/11/2024 12:16 | Apart from the stock market I dont think I have had a bet in me life. Too tight | scruff1
25/11/2024 10:31 | Talking add's, did you know that if you're addicted to online betting, like scruff, you can now 'take time out' and 'have a break'?? I think that's really good of them. | mikemichael2
25/11/2024 09:02 | Good point Scruff. Perfect draught were selling budlight for £10/keg, they literally couldn't give it away! Is this the same? not seen the adverts are they depicting jag drivers in chaps & nipple tassels? | utrickytrees
25/11/2024 08:20 | It's the electric only rebrand isn't it? Id have added a couple of rainbow lightening bolts personally. | utrickytrees
25/11/2024 08:17 | Jaguar advertising agency will no doubt be spaffing it up the walls of their offices....all this free publicity...job done! | utrickytrees
25/11/2024 07:12 | The new Jaguar adverts are yet another example of a once-proud brand caving to the relentless march of woke ideology. For decades, Jaguar symbolised the very best of British engineering, heritage, and sophistication. Owning one wasn’t just about driving—it was about an emotional connection to craftsmanship, history, and a certain understated elegance that proudly flew the British flag. But in the latest marketing campaigns, all of that seems to have been tossed aside in favour of pandering to a vocal minority demanding "inclusion" in places where they already had it. These adverts reek of corporate virtue-signaling, designed not to celebrate the essence of Jaguar but to tick the trendy boxes of the day. It’s a sad shift away from the values that made Jaguar iconic in the first place. This isn’t progress; it’s a betrayal of the brand's heritage. Instead of focusing on the cars—on their beauty, performance, and legacy—the adverts drown in meaningless gestures that alienate loyal customers while chasing fleeting applause on social media. As a long-time Jaguar owner, I’ve always treasured the connection to a time when Britain wasn’t afraid to take pride in its products. Even as I look to upgrade, the sheer wokeness of these new campaigns has been a dealbreaker. It's not just the adverts, either—the push towards electric vehicles, no matter how impractical for many, and design choices like the "stick-on iPad" infotainment systems feel like afterthoughts and compromises rather than bold statements of British engineering prowess. For now, I’m focusing on used Jaguars to avoid falling victim to this new direction. But I’m also broadening my search to other brands like Mercedes, who seem less willing to abandon their traditions to appease fleeting cultural trends. At the same time, I’ll be rewarding myself with a classic Jaguar Mk3—a reminder of when this brand stood for excellence, not ideology. It’s high time companies remembered that loyalty comes from honouring their heritage, not discarding it in the pursuit of the latest cultural trend. Proud to be a Reform Member and Voter. PS: Gecko, I to have not looked in on PFC. :-) My time there was I feel wasted as it was not purely investment purposes that kept me there. :-) (I think you knew and understood that). | whites123
24/11/2024 20:26 | They won the election even though their total votes were less than when they lost to Boris. They won totally by default because the majority centre ground vote was split in two by Reform and Tories. It was our fault. Might be the biggest own goal ever! They are in and they know it was a huge stroke of luck and circumstance but they will milk their majority to destroy us, the massive majority who never voted for them! | tygarreg |
