The same carbon result could be obtained for a fraction of the quoted £22b simply by planting trees

That would align with the house building programme as wood would require replacement

Joint up thinking - so my apologies to 2TK

Russian Precision Strikes Destroyed Neptune Missile Complex In Odessa Region

Support SouthFront

Russian military monitoring sources revealed the target of Russian precision strikes in the southern Odessa region launched in the morning of October 15. A series of explosions thundered as a result of the strikes on Ukrainian military positions near the village of Tuzly located on the Black Sea coast near the Romanian border.

At around 10 a.m. local time, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched two precision strikes with Iskander–M missiles at the positions of the battalion of R-360 Neptune missile complex of the Armed Forces of Ukraine deployed the area of Tuzly. At the time of the strike, a mobile command post, two unified launchers and transport and loading vehicles were deployed at the position, preparing for missile attack on the Russian territory.

Russian military sources confirmed that as a result of the attack, the mobile command post was completely destroyed, which significantly disrupts the coordination of Ukrainian attacks and the their military operations. Both launchers suffered significant damage. Their use in further attacks is impossible without major repairs.

Neptune is one of the key complexes of the coastal defense of Ukraine, designed for strikes at sea and land targets. The Armed Forces of Ukraine use this complex in attacks on the Russian territory, including in Crimea. The main targets for Neptune missiles are positions of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol.

The recent timely Russian strikes in the Odessa region destroyed several cargo ships when they were unloading military cargo from NATo. The destruction of the precious missile complex at the moment when it was preparing for the attack once again confirm the high effectiveness of operations of Russian reconnaissance deep in the enemy rear.

Scruff referencing YouTube as if its some sort of barmy alternative to broadsheet papers & radio 4 is hilarious. Its actually an established global phenomenon that has captured the imagination of the planet and transformed media. If you don't use You Tube as your go to source for news & media these days your actually part of dwindling minority. Saying 'you've been on the YouTube again' is a bit like saying ' oh I see your walking on your hind legs again...'look at you with your fancy homo-erectus ways'

Goldman Sachs, Bank of America (BofA) and Citigroup all surpassed analysts’ estimates for their third-quarter earnings on Tuesday thanks to strength in their investment banks

The Wall Street giants have benefited from a pickup in dealmaking activity that bankers are hoping is the beginning of a sustained rebound following a torrid 2023.

Top US lenders are leaning more on their investment banking arms to bolster profitability as they grapple with falling interest rates.

Ukraine Falling Into Agony

Support SouthFront

Amid the ongoing Russian offensive along the entire front, Kiev intensified the hunt for new soldiers on the streets; but at this stage of the war, more cannon fodder is unlikely to change the balance of power and stop the Russian army.

Over the past week alone, the Russian army advanced about 150 km2. The largest area of 90 km2 was liberated in the Russian Kursk region.

In recent days, a new stage of Russian offensive in the Kursk region began. Russian forces are advancing all around Sudzha. On the northern flank, Ukrainians sent reinforcements to counterattack in Lyubimovka but to no avail. A large group of Ukrainian fighters is still surrounded in a cauldron there. The Russian army is already completing the mop up operations in the settlements nearby.

On the southern outskirts of Sudzha, Russians advanced in the area of Cherkasskaya Konopelka. Ukrainian groups are hiding in the forest areas west of the village.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine lost their offensive potential and retreated from the Russian territory in the Glushkovsky district. According to preliminary reports, Ukrainians were repelled from the border village of Novy Put.

In an attempt to distract Russian forces, Ukrainians continue operations in other border areas. Russian border guards defeated a Ukrainian group spotted near Zhuravlevka in the Belgorod region.

Military observers predict a new Russian offensive in the southern Zaporozhie direction. At the moment, Russian forces take advantage of Ukrainian mistakes and launch local attacks. The front starts moving in different areas. Most recently, Russian forces took control of the village of Levadnoe.

Ukrainians cannot stop rapid Russian advance on the Donbass frontlines. One Ukrainian stronghold is falling after another in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhovo directions. Russian flags are already waving around Selidovo.

The battle for Toretsk is coming to its turning point. Russian fighters are grinding Ukrainian units in the ruins. The Ukrainian garrison was left without evacuation, their military supplies and communications were disrupted.

Retreating on the frontlines, Ukraine is falling into agony. The fuse of Ukrainian patriotism, nurtured by flourishing propaganda of nationalism, is drying up. Losses on the battlefields have long crossed the critical line and hunting for cannon fodder on the streets intensified. After the eastern ‘more pro-Russian’ regions were almost depopulated, recruiters attacked ‘pure Ukrainians’ in the west of the country as well as large cities like the capital Kiev, after there were no more men left to capture in small villages. In recent days, tens of thousands of recruiters went to the streets, concerts, weddings, funerals etc, causing public outrage in the country. Kiev’s methods of mobilization also do not please the West, which is paying for survival of the grinded army, while Ukrainians are having fun in the clubs, demotivated and unwilling to fight.

Wouldn't go that far Scruff but if a kid is going to school on a bowl of sugar puffs, having a bag of crisps at break, burger & chips & flap jack at lunch & a pizza or ready meal when they get home most days of the week they will be consuming dangerous levels of seed oils, which will make them obese relatively quickly. Their gut will not absorb nutrients and they will feel hungry and probably eat more uhp food compounding the problem. This has been the norm for a couple of generations and despite initiatives like the traffic light food labeling system not much progress has been made, largely because the food industry is being asked to mark its own homework.

Good point Diku, I would advocate a nanny state when it comes to diet. Government should ban seed oils & sugar, there is absolutely no reason for these products to exist they are worse for health than recreational drugs & alcohol.
