 From Migration Watch:-
In case you missed it, Home Office statistics issued on Thursday (27th February) contained some extraordinary figures. There were
850,000 long-term visas issued
162,000 grants for settlement
417,000 extensions of stay for work
108,000 asylum applications, 18% up on 2023 and greater than the previous highest of 103,000 in 2002
This was our comment:
“The latest Home Office immigration statistics for 2024 show that inflows, particularly for work, have remained damagingly high. Any decreases from the previous year were largely the result of measures put in place by the Tories.
In other news we learned that the number of 16 to 24-year-olds not in work or education has hit an 11-year high at nearly 1,000,000.
The government must shake off its complacency, tackle legal and illegal inflows, stop importing cheaper workers and start prioritising the future of our own young people. Nothing they have done or said so far will do this.”
The sentence in bold was reported by the BBC and based on data released by the ONS. There is no mention of the Home Office immigration statistics on the BBC website and as far as we can make out, there was no mention in nationwide news bulletins. And we apologise if there was and we’ve missed it.
There was comment from immigration enthusiasts to the effect that the figures showed immigration to have fallen in the last six months of 2024 – in other words, since Labour came to office. This is totally disingenuous. As Alp said in our comment, any falls in July to December last year largely came about because of measures introduced by the Conservatives.
Moreover, an inflow of 850,000 has serious implications for housing and services and integration. Perhaps this is all about trying to take the sting out of the colossal net migration figures that are now part of the daily dialogue and the progressive left’s narrative. No matter that even net migration of 340,000 from 2029 (it won’t get anywhere near that low) will still lead to a population increase of five million by 2032 – barely seven years away – and 10 million by 2047. All of the increase resulting from migration and the children born to migrants.
Let’s not allow the open-borders enthusiasts to desensitise us to these catastrophically high numbers. As we said last week, numbers matter, a lot. |

Anyone know when the next update re the car loan fiasco is due? 5-10p fall/mini spike depending on how good/bad the news is. |
Another useless addition Jenny Chapman, a Labour peer, will take over from Ms Dodds after she resigned warning that the reduction will only increase the influence of Russia and China. Are there any real men available kneel - streeting excl of course? |
Once parliament loses the ability to manage and fails to curb the blob numbers then the average joe has to pay. Seems it never falls on the greedy MPs to sacrifice - just my entitlement to myy jet when I wish with not a word from net zero man |

Russian army 7 km away from Kupyansk — head of Kharkov regional military-civil authority
Vitaly Ganchev noted that the front line in the Kupyansk area was gradually widening
KURSK, February 27. /TASS/. Russian troops are approximately 7 km away from Kupyansk in the Kharkov Region, the head of the Kharkov regional military-civil administration (MCA), Vitaly Ganchev, has told the media.
"Currently, the expansion of the bridgehead on the right bank of the Oskol River is underway. Kupyansk is very near, about 7 km away," he said.
Ganchev noted that the front line in the Kupyansk area was gradually widening. "We are also making progress from Svatovo, from the LPR on the left bank of the Oskol River. On that side, the distance is also about 7 km. There is a slow but steady expansion of the frontline," he said.
Ganchev also added that in the Kharkov region, cleanup operations were underway not only in the Kupyansk area. In May 2024, the battle group North liberated about 15 villages in the northern part of the Kharkov region. Currently, the Russian forces were defending the gained territory from counter-attacks by Western mercenaries. |

Unwise words 'Zelensky is a hero', says Badenoch, who calls Trump's behaviour 'inappropriate |
You need to cancel the Guardian - its untrustworthy, especially those surveys by Owen Jones of his mates. |
Watching this predictable good cop bad cop routine being contrived by Trump and Starmer. I guess Trump and Starmer would have talked om the phone for quite a while this morning.
Just checked the latest betting odds on the next General Election result. Labour are now favourites with Reform second Tories third. That is quite a turnaround over the last month. |
Invaded, hahaha. They were camped on the boarder for 6 weeks then limbo'd in...or perhaps hopscotch'd in. No resistance in the Donbas suggests the current front line is probably where the new boarder should be. |
Hardup, a boilersuit is workwear, skinny jeans and a weekend offender long sleeved t shirt just says 'so what I'm an Eastern European gangsta what are you gonna do about it'. Americans absolutely correct for pulling him up. He made no effort to assimilate for his benefactors. |
tricky.....Winston Churchill wore boilersuits to such meetings with Roosevelt and Stalin, no one criticised him for that! |
I'm no fan of suits but Z did look like a tardy E European techno nightclub security boss. Considering how much time his Mrs spends shopping on 5th Avenue & Rodeo Drive with US tax payer $'ers you'd have thought the least she could do was buy him a decent whistle. |
