Shares in Lloyds, Natwest and HSBC jump as Reeves appears to rule out Labour raid on lenders.

Banks breathed a sigh of relief after Rachel Reeves appeared to rule out overhauling the way lenders receive interest at the Bank of England.

Shares in the UK’s high street lenders were among the biggest risers in a wider market rally on Wednesday. Lloyds rose 2.1 per cent while Natwest climbed 1.8 per cent. HSBC gained 1.6 per cent.

The market moves came after Reeves, the shadow Chancellor, said she had “no plans” to change the way interest is paid on the roughly £770bn of commercial bank deposits held by high street lenders at the Bank of England.

“The paying of interest on reserves is part of the transmission mechanism for monetary policy; it’s one of the ways that higher interest rates filter through to the real economy,” she added.

covid finished the private schools because the English private schools became completely dependent on Asian students from 1991 onwards.

I worked in one of these multi million pound outfits...they pioneered foreign students here..made a fortune.

all 4 colleges went bust mid 22.rouhgly 2,500 students in total

And they AINT coming back.

The French Navy is so keen to get these so called illegal immigrants into British waters that they escort them.
They then are given a taxi service to the UK by our own border control.
And it is the destination of choice for them.

Welomed by church groups, human rights lawyers, hoteliers, house builders and other elements of our society. Not to mention those being bunged cash. It is an industry.

You watch this labour govt. 3 Private schools already closed, CGT about to rise, anyone with a second home is gonna get creamed and thus so is anyone hoping to rent a holiday cottage, ditto private landlords. Turned by paper losses on Lloyds into a 4k profit by selling all my remaining Lloyds shares and buying RR....remarkable really only did it 6 wks ago!

The NHS employs 1.3 million, including powerful unionised doctors and nurses.
There is a complex mix of private and NHS work with the sae personnel and facilities.

So some clueless young politician thinks he can reduce waiting lists and blame the Tories.

The NHS and many other institutions are untouchable, out of government control.

Same with 'Liz Truss crashed the economy'. Interest rates here and in America are at the same level as when Liz did her famous budget.

UK has weak economy but most are doing ok.

Tricky - it was just a daft post. One that could have been written by anyone who will be voting Labour, LibDem, Green, Raving Loony etc at this GE. In the case of Labour it looks like they will all be in favour of populist economic catastrophe, populist massively increased immigration, populist greatly increased govt control, populist ties to a sinking, anti-democratic champion of government control and populist chaos generally.

According to Igor Kimakovsky, Russia forces have reached serious success in the city of Chasovoy Yar

MOSCOW, June 10. /TASS/. Ukrainian troops no longer evacuate their wounded from the battlefield near Chasovoy Yar in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Igor Kimakovsky, and adviser to the DPR head, said, citing aerial survey data.

"The enemy lost up to one thousand men in Chasovoy Yar in recent days alone. These were huge losses. They don’t even evacuate their wounded," he told Russia's Channel One TV channel.

According to Kimakovsky, Russia forces have reached serious success in the city of Chasovoy Yar.

He told TASS earlier that Ukrainian troops sustained losses while trying to hold the city’s eastern neighborhoods. Most of this territory is already controlled by Russian forces.
