21/5/2024 21:05 | RUSSIAN EXERCICE WITH NON-STRATEGIC NUCLEAR WEAPONS BEGIN NEAR UKRAINIAN BORDER Support SouthFront On May 21, the Russian Ministry of Defense declared the beginning of the first stage of the previously announced exercises on the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons. They will be held in the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation. The Defense Ministry announced the exercises on May 6. They were launched by order of President Vladimir Putin. LINK The General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces has launched the first stage of the exercises on the preparation and deployment of non-strategic nuclear weapons. The exercises involve the missile formations of the Southern Military District, as well as the aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces. During the exercises, missile forces work out the tasks of obtaining special ammunition for Iskander complexes and equipping launch vehicles with them, then moving to the designated position area for launching. Units of the aerospace forces are also practicing the deployment of special munitions, equipping them with aviation missiles, including the Dagger missiles, with subsequent departure to the patrol area. The Russian Defense Ministry shared the footage of the ongoing exercises: As previously reported by the Russian Defense Ministry, the exercise is aimed at maintaining the readiness of personnel and equipment of units of combat use of non-strategic nuclear weapons to respond and to unconditionally ensure the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Russian state in response to provocative statements and threats by certain Western officials against the Russian Federation,’ the Russian MoD reported. The Southern Military District is located in the western part of the Russian Federation, next to the territories under the Ukrainian control. This is a clear sign to Kiev and NATO, who could watch the possible consequences of their policy aimed to escalate the conflict against Russia. Support SouthFront | stonedyou
21/5/2024 18:36 | If you are with Hargreaves Lansdowne and sign up for automatic dividend reinvestment, they do this between the 11th and 21st every month. So I doubt any Lloyds investors who have signed up for this with Hargreaves Lansdowne will get their dividend reinvested until next month. I am with Hargreaves Lansdowne but never go for the automatic dividend reinvestment, I prefer to do it myself at my own leisure. But I won't be reinvesting the dividend this time, I am taking it for income to live on. | hardup1

21/5/2024 14:42 | Optomistic: post 28850 Divi reinvestments should have an upward affect on share price but you have got to remember, many Platforms holding stock in either ISA or trading accounts collectively balance up all those that are entitled to the dividend, allocating who gets what from a collective transfer from the registrars office. Once they have consolidated the figures and allocated correctly, only then do they repurchase for those that want to reinvest. | utyinv

21/5/2024 13:36 | the " excuses " will be what happens to US interest rates we are NOT an independent state and no party wants rampant imported cost push inflation due to a falling pound all other considerations[the only ones the numpties and the MSM talk about] are........??? quite irrelevant | mr.elbee
21/5/2024 13:24 | Obviously there could be a bot of a retrace, but we have about 60m of buys in our favour each day. I'd say any retrace would be mild and recovered quickly. PIs may well take profits, but they have fa effect on ftse companies whatever they do. And insts are more long term, Dropping rates are swings and roundabouts - presumably interest margin lowers, but the divi becomes even more attractive. So due to the gteed buys in the bag over the next few months which would negate quite a bit of negative sentiment, i'd still rate this a reasonable buy but expect some setbacks now and again. I'd certainly say hold if you already do hold and ride out any interest rate variability. Now my biggest holding, and I'm going to keep holding my holding, at least until near the completion of the buyback. | pierre oreilly
21/5/2024 12:28 | Let's assume CPI to April prints at 1.9% tomorrow, to go with industry data saying food price inflation has subsided to 2.4% and an estimate of another 7% fall in (variable) energy tarffs on the way in July. Will that be enough to shift three BoE MPC members from hold to cut at their next meeting? What excuses might Fat Boy Bailey come up with for sticking a bit longer? Within inflation and labour market statistics there might be numbers which say underlying costs and wages are still rising too fast (which you could argue is caused by rather than tamed by high interest rates). Signs that a recovering economy is underway so we don't need a boost and the US showing that inflation can bubble and persist if there is too much stimulus. Not enough pain in the housing and employment and government debt data to warrant an immediate cut. No rush to do the incumbent government a favour by cheering up folks with mortgages etc. Happy to wait and keep step with the US. If we are going to get a Summer cut there are only two chances left 20 June and 1 August. Place your bets. | marktime1231
