14/4/2024 05:29 | Kicking off in middle east now. Swivel eyed ayatollahs in Tehran escalating tensions by firing hundreds of drones at Israel in retaliation for Israel strike on it's consulate in Syria. Token gesture knowing none will get through. No doubt there will be panic in the Markets on Monday morning. | hardup1
13/4/2024 22:28 | I give up on the Telegraph. Its as bad as any cheap tabloid. 'Iran launches 'massive' drone attack on Israel' Even the Express keeps it to ' a number' of drones and explains that they will take 2 hrs to reach Israel and they are being monitored by the IAF. News Papers (so called) have joined the rest of the rubble of our once dignified and principled way of life. Just so much trash written by semi educated, semi intelligent young 'uni' leavers. The days of the mountainous piles fresh of the presses at the crack of dawn have given way to snippets on the social media type version deeply buried between bigger stories about the more important Love Island and transgender activist pop stars and the Kardashians and Katie Price etc | scruff1

13/4/2024 09:31 | Two approaches for em imo. If the lenders believe they have done nowt wrong then they should all be prepared to see the FCA in court. If they have then they should prepare to offer the victims a private pay out scheme which if its rejected would result in a private lawyer taking on the case and extracting their fee. Should keep the costs reasonable. They should then make it clear to all future job applicants that being a lying, cheating snake is not henceforth an absolute requirement for employment within a bank | scruff1
13/4/2024 08:07 | RUSSIAN ARMY HIT 32 UKRAINIAN TARGETS WITH LANCET LOITERING MUNITIONS PAST WEEK (VIDEOS) Support SouthFront The Russian military has destroyed or damaged 32 targets of Kiev forces using Lancet loitering munitions between April 6 and 12. The Ukrainian losses, all documented in video by Lostarmour.info, were: Nine main battle tanks; Eight self-propelled howitzers, including two British-made AS-90 and one Polish-made Krab; Six towed howitzers, including two American-made M777 and one British-Italian-made FH-70; Three high-mobility vehicles, including one American-made Humvee; One infantry fighting vehicle; One towed mortar; One self-propelled anti-aircraft gun and Three posts. The Lancet was developed by the ZALA Aero Group, a subsidiary of Russia’s defense giant Kalashnikov Concern. The company produces two versions of the loitering munition, the Izdeliye-52 with an endurance of 30 minutes and a one-kilogram warhead and the larger Izdeliye-51 that has an endurance of 40 minutes and is armed with a warhead weighting three kilograms. The loitering munition flies towards the designated area with a GLONASS-aided inertial navigation system. After arriving in the area, the operator utilizes an onboard electro-optical system via a two-way data-link to detect, track and lock on the target. A laser-ranging system then controls the detonation of the warhead. Ukrainian attempts to stop Lancet loitering munitions with air defense fire, electronic warfare or countermeasures have been mostly unsuccessful. The Russian military is increasingly using Lancet loitering munitions to attack Kiev forces behind the front line. Last month, Lostarmour.info documented a record 177 strikes, while the number of documented strikes this month has already reached 53. It’s worth noting that many strikes remain classified. 13/4/2024 07:59 | Lloyds Bank unlikely the target of FCA motor probe warning - analysts Lloyds Banking Group PLC ( LSE:LLOY ) Lloyds Bank unlikely the target of FCA motor probe warning - analysts Last updated: 16:09 12 Apr 2024 BST, First published: 14:35 12 Apr 2024 BST Lloyds Banking Group PLC - Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LSE:LLOY) was unlikely to be the target of a warning from the UK’s financial watchdog telling motor finance firms to hold back cash for a probe into the sector. That’s according to KBW analysts, which highlighted Lloyds’ £450 million provision, laid out in February's full-year results. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) issued the warning in a letter on Friday morning. Many firms have struggled to pass on relevant data relating to the investigation, the FCA said, which centres on the historic use of so-called discretionary payments that saw brokers and dealers raise consumers’ interest rates on car finance. “We suspect that this primarily relates to smaller finance companies and or subsidiaries of overseas banks,” KBW noted in response. Close Brothers Group PLC (LSE:CBG) was probably not the target of the letter either, analysts continued, given the firm cancelled its dividend over the probe. “It is hard to argue that either are not focused on ensuring that they have adequate financial resources,” KBW said, discussing Lloyds and Close Brothers. That said, “the fact the FCA has had to write the letters feels a little ominous,” analysts added. “We continue to believe that the motor finance review will result in significant liability for a number of UK banks.” KBW estimated Lloyds to be pricing in a total liability of £2 billion, with Close Brothers’ potential hit at £350 million. Both were kept at ‘outperform&rs | stonedyou
13/4/2024 07:01 | BUT IT IS NOT POPULIST HYSTERIA IT IS A DELIBERATE PLAN LIKE PPI | mr.elbee
12/4/2024 23:34 | Yes hardup sabre rattling from the FCA, I think aimed at the likes of Close Brothers who pretended the liability is inestimable, and perhaps warning those smaller firms who claim to have poor records to be prepared anyway. There is almost certainly going to be a decision that restitution needs to be paid. So it is partly a question of when ... from some point later this year probably ... but mostly a question of how much, where estimates range from the hopefully affordable to the ridiculous. LLOY did the right thing by taking an early hit, provisions may rise, but there ought to be someone lobbying the FCA to decide on a reasonable formula rather than pander to populist hysteria. | marktime1231 |
