16/3/2021 17:52 | Re NI Protocol. "An EU official said: "If, for instance, the UK were willing to envisage continued alignment with EU SPS rules (ain't gonna happen), many, many, many of these problems would be solved. "We are willing to discuss these matters, and stand ready to do so. Whitehall officials say that Downing Street will not consider any offers that lock Britain into the EU's regulatory sphere. Insiders have signalled they are instead ready to enter into a legal showdown with Brussels over No10's plans to unilaterally delay the introduction of EU trade checks on Northern Ireland. They insisted the move was simply to stop supermarket shelves in the region from running bare. And their actions were needed because eurocrats had dragged their feet in recent talks over possible exemptions from red tape for Northern Ireland. Government lawyers have informed ministers they've done nothing wrong and say Brussels is overreacting." | poikka

16/3/2021 15:30 | We are out and free from the losers in Brussels. Bless...Brussels has made a big mess out of the virus.. it's shows how incompetent they are in an emergency situation. First they complain about shortages of AstraZeneca blaiming the company and UK. Second they refuse to exports the vaccine to other countries. Now they blame the AstraZeneca vaccine for a few cases of blood clots This is nothing more than politics and blame others for their failure | k38

16/3/2021 14:22 | The situation obviously isn't as clear cut as you seem to imagine. Trials are highly regulated and they must have valid reasons and be reasonably safe and ethical. We have ethics committees to oversee these things, set up after the thalidomide disaster. I don't know the whys and wherefores, but it's not as simple as moderna being allowed to do as they please on a load of babies like in a german concentration camp. I'm sure the aims/methods/safety criteria and lots of other stuff are carefully explained in the papers submitted for the permission for the trial to go ahead. Has it actually got the go ahead? Had moderna actually applied for permission? | pierre oreilly |
