Mind you I have been diagnosed with haemochromotosis - apparently had it all my life and never heard of it but not supposed to drink now. Fate worse than Covid and Brexit all rolled into one.

WE may not all be captains of life but surely we are entitled to an opinion - up to now anyway - just. Millwall fans excepted of course.

Our whole involvement with the 'project; has been a betrayal of the British imo. Heath lied to us. Nobody voted for what it has become. Major was a usleless idiot who should have cried halt at Maastricht. Blair was another who sold the Brits a micky at every opportunity and finally the ultimate irony and at last a bit of luck was the sleazebag Cameron. He thought he could trap us in the empire for ever by giving us a referendum because he was sure we were all daft enough to go vote YES. If for one moment he thought otherwise there never would have been one. Even May tried her best to backtrack. Is Boris about to go down as the biggest of them all or can he redeem himself. We will soon know. Well maybe.

So because the French are likely to blockade their ports we should reign in our trade expectations....hogwash. We'll be able to trade all over the world, we won't need to bother with the French if they block their ports.

Only in as much as we won't be allowed in their waters either pending future agreement. Can't see it pressuring our fishermen quite as much as the EU's in view of the potential situation in January.

Got to say minnie I quite often respect your arguments but I think in this case youre are getting hammered. The politicians obdurant obsession with the 'project' rather than trade as it was supposedly meant to be has ripped it apart. It is beginning to look farcical imo.

Soon to be complicated by Norway potentially taking back her waters pending a three way agreement between the UK, EU and Norway. Might take some time.

Which ports - the French? New Zealand used to sell lamb to the UK, Beef from S America etc etc. Entrepreneurism will always out. The red tape of Brussels has been stifling. It is frought with dangers but I hope independence will also bring an renewed independence of spirit and entrepreneurism. I suspect its a possible fundamental difference between leavers and remainers who I suspect are more inclined to the protectionism that is fundamental to Brussels. The French are always blockading something if its not trawlers its lorries or summat in Paris. Napoleon started it. Maybe we can find another Nelson

And you Min, are demented.

Why should we allow the foreign fishermen to take a catch from our waters? No one else does.

So the Royal Navy are going to prevent French fishing boats from fishing, so English fishing boats can catch the fish and sell them to France.

Let them block their ports....we won't need to trade with them now we've got trade deals signed elsewhere. They need us more than we need them. They can shove their brackwurst and brie.
