lefrene 050 - "However note, although I have picked the container up and know how heavy it is (both weigh bridge and docs), I don't know what's in it, not even the nature of it.."

Nice post.

Reminds me of a voyage I did from Antwerp to Beirut and Sur (Tyre) with second hand cars: the boots were locked and I had no idea of what they contained - allegedly personal effects - not good under the circumstances. Glad to get shot of that lot.

I tell you what it will bring, you numpty: nothing - apart from disbelief.

Adherence to a contract already signed isn’t conditional.

This is ridiculous. Saying that he will now not go back on the "fantastic deal" he struck last year with the EU is meant to constitute an "olive branch"? What a complete clôwn.

Alp, to balance my trade deficit you'll have to drink more Chablis, and dress your wife from Balmain and La Perla. Plus the odd German car now and then. I manage perfectly well without these things, and now 'she' buys her own if she wants to. But interestingly (because this is not a breakfast table topic), I notice lately that she has fallen out of love with all things French, and has commented upon the supercilious Msr Barnier, and the ridiculous Msr Macron. She is wealthy in her own right, and I guess is choosing to spend differently. I have enough sense not to ask! :¬)

Reading my RYA magazine reminded me of another issue that has been rumbling for a while - red diesel. A big issue that the UK government wants to change.

Another poster with lots to say but no answers
So what is the " simple info on how to handle the supposed expected queues of trucks!"
As you appear to claim " there's no reason for there to be any queuing trucks at all, and the solution is so obvious"
As every one knows I am a bit thick, so please...explain what the not so obvious solution is, and perhaps add why the nationality of the truck/owners/drivers matters in any queue if it has your local cabbages onboard?
If I were an EU transport operation I might simply not accept any UK loads as I would not want my operation to be snarled up in customs for days..
If I were a UK operator and I was dependent on transporting the 50% of British exports to the EU..then I might wonder whet the hell I was supposed to do once my truck arrives in France and is delayed for....hours...days??
And...then has to join the back of the queue of "French" trucks waiting to Leave EU enter the UK
Will the French just wave them through?
Do you get the picture yet...reality?

St Trinians? smartypants

If you are referring to the French border, then fine they can stack up as many trucks as they like on their side, although about 85% of the trucks are European trucks not British ones. If their antics affect the operation of the ships, then I daresay other European ports away from France will get more business.

I'm helping out already by minimising my consumption of EU products.
