I don't know if anyone else is watching this election enquiry hearing, but it's absolutely damning.

....they want to keep our fish, stop us from out competing them and they don't care how it happens and remainers still think they're our friends. Naive in the extreme, need to take the blinkers off.

Verb or not, I think his meaning was pretty clear, whether or not you agree with it. A little bit of nitpicking I think.

Fish have no passports.

What has that to do with where they are caught? Perhaps Brussels should pass a law and force the fish to migrate to specific countries.

You do talk some tosh careful!

Irish Prime Minister said that fish have no passports.
They spawn off Ireland and swim round into British waters.
In a way fish have the same status as illegal immigrants.
They were not born here.

When I tuck in to a nice cod and chips supper I do not care if it was caught by an Englishman, Irishman, Frenchman or Spaniard.
As long as it tastes good and the price is right.

Not wishing to sound too 'unwoke', when walking around most major cities in the UK I am not sure what the definition of an Englishman is anymore.

I have been to Germany many, many times, France also, and I like both countries. I just want them to run their countries and leave us to run ours.

CP - "They're starting to feel that cold sweat running down their spine G2. They know things aren't going their way ....they shouldn't have listened to the likes of Blair and Major."

So true, they thought we'd be a walkover: Heath and a bunch of public school beat-me-until-I-come types followed by here's-the-money-May...I mean, who wouldn't think it'd be dead easy?

You have to have some sympathy for the EU - they're in completely uncharted territory. In the past, if a bribe hasn't worked then threats have done the trick. But now they are dealing with a free people whose freedoms date back long before the EU's ridiculous human rights, a free people who have finally had enough. And the EU have no idea how to handle it.

I have and yes, am fully aware.
That's why I went straight to a half face mask with a P3/P100 filter and avoided the surgical/homemade masks with a bargepole :)

And this was in January!!!

Hard to believe they will let this deal fail over a few fish.
Other issues can be sorted.

Markets beginning look shaky after a bullish run, a huge rise in November.
But things in the economy are grim, too much debt, rising employment, civil unrest.

Deal or no deal, we are in for a rough ride.

All of a sudden, a safe deposit at almost zero interest rates is beginning to look like the smartest move.
Pity we have a bungling Churchillian Prime Minister.
Winston was an economic illiterate as well.
Clinging a strong pound resulted in World economies crashing leading to Adolf.
Winston was always prepared to sacrifice the young for glory.

I predict a poor December.
