Tom Armstrong14 Aug 2020 11:54AMTo Boris Johnson: We are watching you.  We will scrutinise any deal you make with the hostile, untrustworthy EU very closely indeed, as we do not trust you either.  We think you are weak and unprincipled.  The burden of proof to prove us wrong lies with you.  We will accept no excuses.Any deal that leaves us in any way under the control of the EU or its puppet courts, gives preferential rights to EU citizens here, gives the EU fishing rights in our waters, prevents us from making any trade deal with other countries, restricts our abilities to follow any policy we may chose, to set taxes at whatever level we like, or leaves us with potential financial liabilites of any kind, will be deemed to be a sell out.  In that event, the Tories will be wiped out at the next election and you will go down in folk memory as a traitor.  A Petain rather than a Churchill.

If Lloyds is tracking the FTSE, which I don't dispute, then I can't see anything in immediate prospect that's going to drive the FTSE higher.

I'm shorting the grossly overvalued DOW in a small way because I'm convinced that sooner or later there's going to be a sharp fall which could drop the FTSE and by association Lloyds. Of course shorting a leading index of the strongest economy in the world is a wildly contrarian position, but it's my choice to make.

Worth keeping some money on the sidelines because it could be possible to buy an already undervalued Lloyds at an even cheaper price. I believe in the prospects for this share more and more.

Very difficult market to call.

Just my opinion and no advice intended.

The only Real Conservatives are Redwood, Cash and Co.
Most of this lot are wet liberals, especially Social policy side.

At least under Boris they are not far from conservatives. Under Dave and the old bag they weren't conservatives of any kind.

"and not fired by the Conservatives"

Why? They've had long enough!

Because they are not proper Conservatives is why!

Yes, Max - rather obviously so. Not statesmanlike, not productive.

The choices on offer in Scotland are so absolutely awful it wouldn't take much to bring about a big move to the Conservatives. That shouldn't be put at risk.

Agree, like NHS our benefit system should be for Nationals only.
Universal rule 2 should apply. I.e, if you dont put in then you cant take out.
But then we are the stupid stupid Brits who should be taken advantage of.

"Hmmm. Desperate people, paying thousands to cross the Channel, what's new?"

France is a safe and prosperous country.

So the fact they want to risk all is further evidence our Welfare system is too generous!

That will all be incidental soon when the money runs out/fat lady sings
