Europe find itself unprepared.. short of food and no income make things very difficult. "Food shortages in italy see theft from shops and the elderly rise"Thanks to Brexit, UK will not face food shortage.

BOE successfully destroying the income and assets of the older population, it's what the government wants as they don't like all those assets held by one area of the populace! Many, including I did not think much of the last BOE governor but this one with his Marxist actions has rapidly lost my support as have the rest of the politicians both past and present.
In the meantime as an OAP I will have to soldier on with a much reduced income as will many other younger people with their debts which it seems are going to be paid by us who have not got over indebted throughout life so that we could have a comfortable retirement only to find much of our incomes taken away from us.
My one and only rant,
opto

People staying home are just munching away...obesity and couch potato rate will go up...people will get so used to staying home who wants to go back to work...there will always be the isolating reason available...

Because around that time (top) we will know if we have stop, control spreading the virus. Infected numbers are more important than the deaths.

Cripple and crucify the economy. Then the NHS will be destroyed too. As sure as night follows day.

This week and next is very important weeks. By the 3rd week we will hear control of the virus (no control of deaths) and that will help the share price.Don't panic.

People seem to forget that 20k iirc die everyday anyhow.

How many covid deaths are in the group who's numbers up in the next month anyhow?

We can't stop death, even by making everybody destitute and putting them under house arrest. Even more police drones to spy on us won't stop death.

Poikka, 70m are Being mentally and financially punished when 99.5% of those would live through an infection, and most of those wouldnt even notice.

And of those 99.5%, many will succumb to the effects of stress and financial hardship.

The other 0.5% are those who, putting it bluntly, would soon do anyway, even if the NHS does manage to save them.

We're under house arrest in a police state. A month ago everyone would have said that was impossible.

It should always have been - isolate those at risk. Everyone else carry on as normal.

I'd be happily cruising ATM, probably with more than the 3 or 4 deaths they usually expect on a 2 week cruise of the frail who nevertheless thought it better to enjoy their last few days rather than watching the depressing covid news coverage or being tortured in a care home in Uber loneliness. And I'd still have a high tax free income from shares and an extra few hundred k to call on if necessary, and i expect many are in a similar situation.
