02/3/2020 15:17 | I 'knock' the EU with good reason. I believe the EU is playing some very dangerous games with their dictatorial attitude. Germany/France in particular are determined to become the powerful dictators over the other countries and I for one am so pleased that we are out and will be rid of the dictators of Europe. What a mess they have made. Time will tell. | maxidi

02/3/2020 14:35 | Maxidi - I can't agree. These negotiations are the most important for 50 years for the future of the country. There can not be mistakes. I might knock the UK, I believe with reason, but have no wish for the country to fail in the future. It needs to up its game. | alphorn

02/3/2020 13:53 | gbh - they may not be so apart! I certainly agree with you that there are many areas in the labour force that need attention, eg the advent of zero and temporary contracts. Also the move away from apprenticeships was IMO a huge mistake. I am sure that there is lots to agree. Keep safe. ;) | alphorn
02/3/2020 13:40 | Alp, I'm through with it all now so no real pressure these days but I have to say, along with lower prices and (dubiously) more choice, we've seen a significant reduction in Quality Jobs in the UK that offer decent pay full time contracts with training & future prospects i.e Jobs in which one can Plan for a future. Much against my will I was part of the problem, we knew for years that mainstream Pharmaceutical manufacturing would be lost to the EU Golden triangle with generics farmed out to cheap labour countries. All we could do was try to ensure we and our staff received decent redundancy and pension terms. Today I see what we went through reflected in many other forms of manufacturing, imo we've not moved forward this last 25 years we've not even stood still, in economic terms the Majority of folk have moved backwards. You and I have exchanged many views during the last +20 years, which may have ended up with agreeing to differ, it's often as much as one can expect when our life experiences may be Worlds apart :) | gbh2 |
