Bercow was fantastic.

You will not get any recognition from the chimps.

Stuart19 - I think Bercow has been an excellent Speaker. Did you see the chaos when his deputy took over yesterday? She didn't have a clue!

I am no heating engineer, but have often wondered how is it best to run my radiators. Trying to heat a house using a gas boiler and only say a bypass radiator would be really inefficient, so does that mean the best way of heating it is to have all of the rads cranked to max extracting as much heat from the water before it completes it's return flow.

=====================
?????????? You need to prevent the heat escaping, not 'crank up' the radiators!!Our boiler hardly comes on, and most Rads are either cool or up to temp and off for that room.

With PPI, the banks have 8 weeks to reply, the deadline for which has passed. (29th Aug + 8 weeks)

Next, it'll depend on how many rejections are referred to the FCA - the claimants have 6 months to refer their compliant to the FCA... If a significant majority are upheld by the FCA then the provision may not be enough. If LLOY have allowed for that then the provision maybe higher. Still too early to say for sure.

It can take months (over a year), for the FCA to make their decision.

So, it's still early days to be sure for PPI.

It's the same as cars leaving the engine running uses less energy rather than all this auto stop start nonsense

How can a heating system run cheaper if it is on 24/7, makes no sense. You obviously aren't a landlord checking gas and elecric consumption on your bottom line.

Further snippet (straw clutching):

"The Group continues to target a progressive and sustainable ordinary dividend and in line with normal practice, the Board will give due consideration to the return of any surplus capital at the year end."

We should be so lucky! Recommencement of share buyback :(

Another poster (above) mentioned possible over-provision for PPI. This could be possible ... see last sentence below:

"The PPI provision charge of GBP2,450 million included an additional charge of GBP1,800 million in the quarter, reflecting the significant increase in PPI information requests (PIRs) leading up to the deadline for submission of claims on 29 August 2019, a PPI provision linked to the Official Receiver and associated administration costs. The assessment of PIR volumes is now complete and the third quarter charge reflects this and the most recent data in terms of quality, which remains low, averaging around 10 per cent. Taking this additional charge into account, the unutilised provision relating to PIRs, complaints and associated administration costs stood at GBP2,324 million at the end of the third quarter."

This quarter's 'single large corporate charge' has gone. But I wouldn't be surprised if there were others in the future, as UK economy is marking time.

Obviously, the divi is good with Lloy but the share price could do a lot better.

BTW as someone above said, the share buyback suspension was done to partly offset the extra PPI, would this be shown in accounts?

toon, being a retired heating engineer i used to think the same, however for OUR house it is definitely cheaper (not by much) to leave it on 24/7. And the bonus is a warm house day and night.

"Nguyen Dinh Luong had also been living in France for the past 18 months, working in a Paris restaurant. Ten days ago, he called his relatives in Vietnam to tell them he was leaving for the UK."

I mean, why do folk want to leave?
