If Brussels was a democratic union, if the bureaucrats wanted a better economic future for Europe they will had agree to a democratic deal with UK ..
BUT because they are undemocratic and 2/3 of the 500 mil population know this, they are afraid their union will go down the drain !!
This is the reason why they do not compromise to a more democratic deal with UK.

Here's what Brussels spends member countries contributions on:-

Administration Running the EU in each country
The EU as a global partner International aid, activities outside the EU
Citizenship, freedom, security and justice Asylum, education and culture
Preservation and management of natural resources Common agricultural policy, environment, fishing
Cohesion for growth and employment Helping poorer regions of Europe
Competitiveness for growth and employment Economic growth grants to small business, science and research.

Does any country get a say in how their net contribution is spent? Not as far as I'm aware, but happy to be proved wrong. What sort of a democratic system is that, ffs. Here's our hard-earned, we trust you not to waste it on Greek olive groves, or Junckers champers or moving to Strasbourg each month for parliamentary voting, and so on.

Brexiteers know what the risks and benefits are by leaving EU. They are not afraid neither to walk away from the dictatorship of Brussels. Freedom and democracy means a lot to them. REMAINERS ARE JUST IGNORANCE whom a big % of them live day by day mostly milking the system. This is TMs and remain MPs mess !!If the truth has been hold about Brussels from the start we wouldn't have today's mess. Brussels gambling on our weakness to dominate us and to secure our billions to fill their pockets.

this net and gross thing confuses me a bit.

We send off for example £15bn
They decide how and where in the Uk for example £6bn should be spent, which they 'fund'.

Resulting, as some assert, a £9bn for example net contribution.

Well I'd say if the eu 'funds' the lottery, operations to turn men into women then back again, battered women enclaves where no battered women exist, multi billion white elephants, thousands of windmills over our National Parks, and whatever else, then really I'd say we've lost the full £15bn (for example) and got back lots of useless expensive stuff we don't want (otherwise we would have funded it directly ourselves).

If we send £15bn to the eu, then we lose control over how that £15bn is spent, not just over £9bn of it.

And if anyone thinks that our contribution wouldn't go up, if we had to Remain, then they haven't been keeping up to date, and/or are deluded.

The last time I looked it was just under £9bn net. contributions to the EU.
Hence May's £35-£39bn payment to previously agreed budgets until 2022.
Net is money paid out less payments received.
(Boris and his bus used gross with exaggeration.)

The foreign aid budget is approx £14bn.

Some argue that this 'pump priming' to develop markets of the future gives us some power and influence and is very good and shrewd investment.

Ref corruption. Loose money always attracts corruption. We just tryl to minimise it, but it is difficult.

It is because Brexit is like PPI.
After it goes wrong you will all sue the government for being miss sold Brexit.
You are bound to get compensation from HMG.

To get compensation you will have to fill in a claim stating that you were totally ignorant and did not know what you were voting for.
You will have no problem with that, it is self evident.

I see that long term you are after compensation.

Corruption is everywhere.
If you think that our leaders are as pure as driven snow then you are in denial.

Literally no-one has ever suggested our leaders are perfect. The difference is that the EU is corrupt to its core. It is a modern-day Tammany Hall.

A few years ago we had an expenses scandal here. A lot of MPs were made to look very bad; quite a few refunded monies they had taken; and a small number even went to prison. That could never happen with the EU.
