09/3/2019 14:36 | Happy with your a little selfish life you mean. With respect but, I bet you have more friends in here than out there.. ;) | k38
09/3/2019 14:32 | Shy Tott I have more qualifications than you. My net-worth is greater than yours. My CV makes yours look like an empty page. It is you who is the loser from where I am sitting. ;) | minerve 2
09/3/2019 14:31 | Shy Tott But you Brexiters were not happy with your life. I was. So who is the loser? | minerve 2
09/3/2019 14:27 | If Brussels was a democratic union, if the bureaucrats wanted a better economic future for Europe they will had agree to a democratic deal with UK .. BUT because they are undemocratic and 2/3 of the 500 mil population know this, they are afraid their union will go down the drain !! This is the reason why they do not compromise to a more democratic deal with UK. . STUPID REALLY.. They are ok if European population suffer. They are only care about money AND power. | k38
09/3/2019 14:17 | Ref 248999 Minerev2, don't be so hard on yourself. Just because you didn't work hard enough at school to get to University (or simply never had the ability) doesn't automatically make you a loser. You are a loser because of your very strange mental attitude and your inability to understand different people have differing opinions. | shy tott
09/3/2019 14:11 | Here's what Brussels spends member countries contributions on:- Administration Running the EU in each country The EU as a global partner International aid, activities outside the EU Citizenship, freedom, security and justice Asylum, education and culture Preservation and management of natural resources Common agricultural policy, environment, fishing Cohesion for growth and employment Helping poorer regions of Europe Competitiveness for growth and employment Economic growth grants to small business, science and research. Does any country get a say in how their net contribution is spent? Not as far as I'm aware, but happy to be proved wrong. What sort of a democratic system is that, ffs. Here's our hard-earned, we trust you not to waste it on Greek olive groves, or Junckers champers or moving to Strasbourg each month for parliamentary voting, and so on. | poikka
09/3/2019 14:09 | Brexiteers know what the risks and benefits are by leaving EU. They are not afraid neither to walk away from the dictatorship of Brussels. Freedom and democracy means a lot to them. REMAINERS ARE JUST IGNORANCE whom a big % of them live day by day mostly milking the system. This is TMs and remain MPs mess !!If the truth has been hold about Brussels from the start we wouldn't have today's mess. Brussels gambling on our weakness to dominate us and to secure our billions to fill their pockets. | k38
09/3/2019 14:06 | this net and gross thing confuses me a bit. We send off for example £15bn They decide how and where in the Uk for example £6bn should be spent, which they 'fund'. Resulting, as some assert, a £9bn for example net contribution. Well I'd say if the eu 'funds' the lottery, operations to turn men into women then back again, battered women enclaves where no battered women exist, multi billion white elephants, thousands of windmills over our National Parks, and whatever else, then really I'd say we've lost the full £15bn (for example) and got back lots of useless expensive stuff we don't want (otherwise we would have funded it directly ourselves). If we send £15bn to the eu, then we lose control over how that £15bn is spent, not just over £9bn of it. | shy tott
09/3/2019 14:01 | Me - "..the UK’s total NET contribution stands at £196bn up to the present day." Forgot to mention that that figure is NOT at today's rates, so you can add on a few more £bns to that figure. | poikka
09/3/2019 13:58 | This time it is the EU, last time it was liberals, before that Labour. Never ever anything to do with Tory or themselves. | minerve 2
09/3/2019 13:56 | K38 So what was your problem then K38? | minerve 2
09/3/2019 13:39 | Mis understood remainers..You mean selfish people who do not care about others or country as long as, " i am alright Jack.." ignorants and brainwashed party followers. | k38
09/3/2019 13:33 | You mis understand remainers. They are just cautious status- quo people who think things are going well for themselves and their families. They do not trust radical change. 'If it ain't broke don't mend it.' | careful
09/3/2019 13:31 | Even after rebates, refunds and public sector grants, the UK’s total NET contribution stands at £196bn up to the present day. And if anyone thinks that our contribution wouldn't go up, if we had to Remain, then they haven't been keeping up to date, and/or are deluded. | poikka
09/3/2019 13:27 | Careful..am a bit slow sometimes.I have only just realised why the LLOY thread has become the home of extreme Brexiteers...Or extreme remainers (sheep voters) who knows nothing about politics. | k38
09/3/2019 13:26 | What's the point of looking at just one year, why not look at how much we've paid in net since joining. | poikka
09/3/2019 13:20 | The last time I looked it was just under £9bn net. contributions to the EU. Hence May's £35-£39b Net is money paid out less payments received. (Boris and his bus used gross with exaggeration.) The foreign aid budget is approx £14bn. Some argue that this 'pump priming' to develop markets of the future gives us some power and influence and is very good and shrewd investment. Ref corruption. Loose money always attracts corruption. We just tryl to minimise it, but it is difficult. | careful
09/3/2019 12:51 | How often do we have to be told that £9bn p.a. is "peanuts"? No doubt it is a graduate of the Diane Abbott school of accountancy speaking. (Incidentally the actual figure is £14bn, but what's the odd £5bn between friends?) | grahamite2
09/3/2019 12:48 | I am a bit slow sometimes. I have only just realised why the LLOY thread has become the home of extreme Brexiteers. It is because Brexit is like PPI. After it goes wrong you will all sue the government for being miss sold Brexit. You are bound to get compensation from HMG. To get compensation you will have to fill in a claim stating that you were totally ignorant and did not know what you were voting for. You will have no problem with that, it is self evident. I see that long term you are after compensation. ...you are smarter that I thought, respect. | careful
09/3/2019 12:45 | careful 9 Mar '19 - 12:08 - 248983 of 248985 0 0 0 Corruption is everywhere. If you think that our leaders are as pure as driven snow then you are in denial. Literally no-one has ever suggested our leaders are perfect. The difference is that the EU is corrupt to its core. It is a modern-day Tammany Hall. A few years ago we had an expenses scandal here. A lot of MPs were made to look very bad; quite a few refunded monies they had taken; and a small number even went to prison. That could never happen with the EU. | grahamite2
09/3/2019 12:41 | careful - a holding of Green Shield Stamps is a major portfolio for many of these guys. | alphorn |
