Nobody knows what for- could have been smoking in a garden possibly. Anyway they found him yesterday - mt rescue mainly - dead in a farm outbuilding up the road. No more info but could be they shot him - as he was white and could have been puffing away in the barn - not recommended -NHS or no NHS. Poor bloke. All that trouble for Berkeley Red. One less for kk and the NHS to worry about though so alls well that ends well | scruff1
30/8/2024 11:14 | Lloyds stokes mortgage battle with higher first-time buyer limit Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LSE:LLOY) has further stoked the current battle for mortgage lending business by raising the maximum sums it will lend first-time buyers. Owner of the Halifax and the UK's biggest mortgage provider, Lloyds will now lend up to 5.5 times annual household income to new buyers compared to 4.49 times previously. Someone with an income of £50,000 can now borrow £275,000 against £224,500 previously or a 22% increase. Lloyds said the move would mean an extra £2 billion becoming available for first-time buyers. Brokers said the decision might prompt other lenders to follow suit, though some cautioned it might also raise affordability concerns. Around 4.5 times income is the norm for first-time buyers but in housing boom times this has risen to as high as seven times income. Conditions for the Lloyds and Halifax offer however are that the borrower’s annual household income must be at least £50,000 with a minimum deposit of at least at least 10% of the property's value.. | freddie01
30/8/2024 10:54 | Sounds like you need a cigar interest Ace. After 8 years I'd bet good money that you'd be able to limit your consumption to a couple a week no problem. I'm walking to Scarborough today and will spend at least a couple of hours wandering the streets in search of a traditional tobacconist. Can't think of a better way to waste my time & money....superb! | utrickytrees

30/8/2024 09:51 | donkeystone......I find it best to look at the TVR RNS issued on the last trading day of each month to get an accurate amount of shares still in issue at that point. That's very helpful. Thank you. | freddie01

30/8/2024 08:38 | scruff......."The argument they used against it was that staff would be forced to work in a smoky environment as I remember." No, they would not be forced, that argument is invalid. They would know when applying for the job that smoking was permitted in the establishment so they would know the risk. I think in the same way this would segregate members of the public, it would also segregate staff as well. It would attract staff who were smokers. Non smokers would not apply for jobs in establishments where smoking was permitted. | hardup1
30/8/2024 08:15 | hardup You are missing the point - its not about freedom of choice (imo) as I try to explain above. Your post is an argument well discussed at the time of the ban. The argument they used against it was that staff would be forced to work in a smoky environment as I remember. Keep the red herring flying high | scruff1
30/8/2024 08:09 | Its FA to do with the NHS either- a red herring, an excuse for imposing their no smoking wish | scruff1 |
