31/1/2021 09:27 | Fair enough PC. Altho another way of looking at it is they have recorded everything as C19. The figs they are bandying about are seriously bent imo. | ![]() maxk
31/1/2021 09:24 | Von der has probably helped in more ways than one. Even though we didn't need to call on the US to get involved one can be certain that Biden was watching with interest. His view towards the EU will surely have been sharpened as a result of this episode. Johnson deserves due credit. | ![]() patientcapital
31/1/2021 09:20 | No maxk. Merely commenting that because of measures taken to contain Covid a side effect has been to contain another infectious disease even if it is a double edged sword. There are two hotspots in Asia which is potentially helpful as 'flu jab developers usually look to Asian strains when working out what to made for the following season. | ![]() patientcapital

31/1/2021 08:23 | Influenza all but wiped out this season with a 95% drop in infections. Good news and bad. With so few cases to work with those developing next season's jabs have few pointers on which strain to target. Immunity will have been greatly reduced as well meaning that the potential for the disease to be severe next season is heightened. | ![]() patientcapital

30/1/2021 23:19 | There is an analogy to saving someone who is drowning, like all rescue, the rescuer has to take care of themselves first to offer the position of strength. The UK looks like it will be in that position. But to be honest, I would feel happier if we went on to help the poorer commonwealth countries rather than the rich Europeans who have made their own misfortune. I hope the UK shows just how generous it can be, rather being hamstrung by the narrow mindedness of the EU. | ![]() 1carus
30/1/2021 22:27 | Much media comment about options open to Rishi Sunak to raise money to pay for COVID debt. Now we have 5 vaccines approved, once we're all vaccinated why not sell them all round the world. Seems like we're world leaders in vaccines so make the most of it. Huge market so wouldn't need to be greedy on mark up and we'd soon eat into debt. | ![]() cheshire pete
