That we are tightening crude, nationwide restrictions is an admission not just that recent policies were misguided, nor only that the test-and-trace system is not good enough, but that we have advanced little in our thinking since March. Six months on, is this really the best we can do?Ryan Bourne holds the R Evan Scharf chair for the public understanding of economics at the Cato Institute... Daily Telegraph

Simon Coulter26 Sep 2020 3:10PMIt's been less of a flattened curve than a dead cat bounce.Apparently only 300 people under 60 with no known comorbidity have died as a result of coronavirus in the past 6 months. In a country where, on average, 1500 people die every day. That is less than two a day.1LikeReplyArnold Savage26 Sep 2020 11:33AM" in the presence of a dangerous infectious disease, "  - but WE are not in such a presence.LikeReplyDerek Clews26 Sep 2020 8:12PM@Arnold SavageONS has Week 33 England and Wales Covid related deaths 1.5% of total 8,767  And:In Week 33, 12.1% of all deaths mentioned "Influenza and Pneumonia", COVID-19 or both, compared with 13% in Week 32. "Influenza and Pneumonia" has been included for comparison, as a well-understood cause of death involving respiratory infection that is likely to have somewhat similar risk factors to COVID-19. Looks like Flu is the problem.

How could they vandalise the Cenotaph. We all know Rule Bittania's a bit jingoistic, but the Cenotaph is an assault on the very fabric of Great Britain. Perhaps tax payers should...like Gary Lineker & Lewis Hamilton & Alphorn simply refuse to pay our fair share...when law abiding tax payers are asked to shoulder an even greater burden while xxxx's like BLM & Antifa wreck the joint, weve got a problem. Were nearly there.

There is a roomer going around that Doris is a secret cross dresser and has been spotted trying on Treeza's old dresses and shoes.

Beware the u-turn. Which is why the ERG are pulling Doris up, and not the C19 cover story.

Its gonna be a right laugh 5xy, I'm not sure how the Democrats are going to manage without a police force. They need to revoke the vote if you've got a conviction in the last 5 years.

Graham Crispin 27 Sep 2020 12:42PMThese aren't universities they are prisons. Treating anyone, let alone youngsters, particularly the freshers who have never lived away from home before, in this fashion is unacceptable on any level.Keeping them in what amounts to regimented solitary confinement, preventing any form of socialising, and then attempting to keep them from returning home, must surely be illegal? It certainly amounts to psychological torture. This must be like living in an internment camp, with no date for release set. That this is being done, let alone allowed, by any government is unacceptable in a civilised society. I don't suppose they'll be publishing the suicide rate for students anytime soon.

Objective Reality 27 Sep 2020 1:20PMWhat's next Boris? Lock up the tory rebels? This tyranny is out of hand. We now need a TRULY independent review of the evidence, advice, conflicts of interest and the resultant decisions that have more harm to this country in peacetime than any other action in the modern era.The unnecessary health impact, psychological impact and economic trauma needlessly inflicted on the UK must be exposed and those accountable must be held to civil and criminal account.

Endless Daily Express et al articles prior to today's vote:

"EU crisis: Danger of a ‘Swiss Brexit’ as critical referendum sparks panic in Brussels
SWITZERLAND could be about to follow in the footsteps of Britain and have their own "Brexit moment" as the Central European country holds a critical referendum on its relationship with the EU".

Today - not a word, let alone an article.

Some people have not been fooled.
