U can screw some of the ppl some of the time but there becomes a point when the credibility of the assertion is a bit like the benefit of steam cleaning - nothing but risible theories - is the garment clean - No idea can see no change!

Japan won't rule us though.
Civil Service needed dismantling...full of lefties.
Coal mining in UK on decline accelerated by NUM.
Most in farming community support Brexit. British farming huge success story and highly efficient, try telling the likes of BBC that though.
Cameron tried to negotiate but Merkel didn't take him seriously, no surprise there though.
Worked in Africa and Middle East so don't need lectures about working 'in different countries'.

"No UK voter was suffering hardship because of the EU."....try telling that to fishermen who lost their livelihoods.

Not about not suffering hardship though, it's more about the prosperity now that we are free.

Hello? Anyone at home? You already had prosperity. None of you Leave voters are that skint or you wouldn't be on ADVFN. I don't think your definition of "free" is real. Free from what exactly? How was the EU effecting you PERSONALLY? Are you telling me that we are truly free to do as we please BECAUSE THAT IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE! When mouths need feeding we will have no choice but to capitulate to the powerful in trade deals. That isn't being free I'm afraid. There is no such thing as being free. All nonsense, put into your small-minded thoughts. The Japanese trade deal has more stringent rules over state aid than those from the EU!

Don't give me this nonsense of democracy when your hero Boris prorogues parliament, lies to The Queen, fires people who protest or disagree (because he hasn't got the wherewithal to provide decent rationale to win the argument), dismantles the civil service, allows an unelected nutter to run the country like a dictatorship and willingly looks to break international law. He also runs a GE based on the WA then decides he no longer wants it. Lies on the side of the bus. Vote Leave stating Hard-Brexit is not on the cards in referendum literature. The whole thing has been completely UNDEMOCRATIC. That is why we are staring at a HARD-BREXIT when ONLY A MINORITY SEEK IT. DEMOCRACY DOES NOT EXIST IN THIS COUNTRY. THE SYSTEM HAS FAILED THE PEOPLE.

As far as the fishermen are concerned there are ALWAYS sectors in trouble. As a Thatcher lemming were you equally concerned about the miners losing their jobs and vast swathes of communities - some near you - who faced the abyss? Are you concerned for the farmers who stand to lose subsidies? No, of course you weren't/aren't. Double standards me thinks. You Brexiters have just latched onto fishing rights BECAUSE IT IS THE ONLY REAL ISSUE YOU MIGHT HAVE A POINT ABOUT. The reality is David and Co could EASILY have negotiated better terms but their ACE cards were always used to protect The City. In anycase, as you always argue, people can adapt and move on and the fishermen are no different. You expect those effected by Brexit to adapt, the fishermen can too. The Polish seem to seek employment better, in different countries if needs be. But the Englishman, especially the Brexiter, the self-entitled man, expects it ALL ON A PLATE!

HOW COME YOU THINK YOU DESERVE ANY BETTER?

JUST BECAUSE YOU WERE BORN ON ENGLISH TURF?

LOL!

Interesting opening position on Barclays and HSBC tomorrow, do you think it will drag the whole sector down?
How will the US respond given these breaches. Do you think there will be serious implications for HSBC and Barclays?

2000: Deutsche Boerse and LSE talks but no deal;
2000: Sweden OMX £800m bid for LSE turned down;
2004: DB again but bid turned down;
2005: Aussie Macquarie Bk £1.6bn bid turned down;
2006: Nasdaq £2.7bn offer rejected;
2011: merger with Canadian TMX agreed but falls through;
2017: LSE and DB again, merger blocked.

Seems like the whole world wants control of our financial 'jewel in the crown', what does that tell us about UK plc.

Jury's still out on covid, death rates in France rising ever so slightly. Id have thought theyd need at least a 50 fold increase in hospitalization to justify current measures . The next 30 days should provide all the answers.

Under Lisbon Treaty we'd have been subsumed into EU and become a vassal state of Germany. They would have achieved through economic and political means what they failed to achieve through WW2. Barnier getting desperate now and trying to split the UK but it won't work. Stand firm Boris. No deal.

The EU are aiming for a federal state - we've chosen the short-term pain of Brexit instead of hardship-free absorption.

We made the right choice!!

Brexit was completely unnecessary. No UK voter was suffering hardship because of the EU. We were all going about our lives quite normally until Farage & Co were given more airtime to spout their lies

I see cheshire pete is still in fantasy land with respect to Boris and our economy.

I think government's response to COVID is all done with respect to Brexit policy, sadly. If the second wave of COVID is of great concern why give everyone the opportunity to visit family, go to the beach, go out on the town etc.. etc..? The policy is deliberate because they know signalling action to go into lockdown creates more of a COVID spike. Additionally, having a poor track and trace limits the ability to control the spread. Thus the result is COVID hanging around in greater number for much longer than is necessary so that the full economic fall-out from a Hard-Brexit can be pushed - as much as is possible - onto the excuse of COVID.

I see care homes are expected to take virus carriers into care putting those at greater risk of serious illness at risk again. Disgraceful. What happened to all these wonderful Nightingale hospitals that were being built? Another lie, more deceit.

Those who voted for Boris carry some responsiblity for this nightmare this country is facing over the next year or so, especially those who voted Boris in as Tory leader.

Brexit was completely unnecessary. No UK voter was suffering hardship because of the EU. We were all going about our lives quite normally until Farage & Co were given more airtime to spout their lies and poison and silly David thought he could bring his beloved dysfunctional party together. Typically Etonian, a deluded sense of one's own ability. Like Boris, like nearly all Brexiters.

It's not a case of knocking.

It's a case of looking at things as they are.

Hancook is destroying the economy, and Doris is destroying the tory party.

Both appear to be clueless, oblivious to the consequences of what they are doing.

Jacko07: "I was hoping he would grow into the job, but he is completely out of his depth. A dithering buffoon.
-----------------------------------------------------
I hate to say it careful, but you are right, it's painful to watch!"

Seldom disagree with your posts Jacko but imho Boris will be remembered as the PM who got us out of the EU and through the Pandemic with a quicker economic recovery than most other countries.

Easy to assume head shaking and apparent hesitancy when being grilled as with Commons Select Committee the other day down to dithering but he's merely taking time for a considered response. Very clever man, and one who won't let Britain down.
