Sounds credible. However, on the 17th March AHO was explaining in interview that the bank was awash with cash and that liquidity to support businesses in this crisis was not a problem. So either he was very out of touch or ...

aljm, I like puzzles, but I like to have puzzles stated in a way i can work out what the hell they are about, and what the puzzle is and what the question is.

Puzzles stated understandably like

If the risk from covid is extremely small for fit people under 50, then why are they under house arrest, and why do the police track them with drones if they venture outdoors?

Labour MP Peter Kyle just said on SKY that over 75's will not be hospitalised if they have CV19. Two care homes in his constituency have CV19

No wonder the bank shares are well down, however it seems the Government scheme to help businesses means every company wishing the loans must attempt to get a normal bank loan or overdraft first. Most " bank says no" . On the other hand, the Bank is in a sweet spot because it will have first call on any company's assets should the loan be granted and go bad.
This is really rather good for the banks.
However, so many companies and sole traders have stopped earning, the banks are going to see a huge drop in deposits.
I'd think on balance, as we should be back to near normal in a few months ( or by Christmas) the shares are a buy. I may go long a couple of banks and roll the trades over for a few months.

The BoE are prioritising, and their priority right now is to help liquidity and enable Banks to lend to support Businesses, and protect jobs and the economy.

If pension funds and a few moaning elderly Investors have to suffer some pain in the short term (this is temporary) in order to achieve that, so be it.

This is all about prioritising during the current Health and Economic Emergency
