Cruise capacity was becoming overcrowded just like the airline industry. I doubt the virus will deter new capacity coming on board long-term, there will just be more second-hand ships and planes for sale/lease and the continual overcapacity - yet again.

I stay clear of both of these generally although I did make an exception with EasyJet just over a year ago.

We are all facing the inevitable fact that the covid flu is here and among us. To most of us, it will pass through largely unnoticed or a week off colour. The sooner we all get it, the sooner we get through it, get immune and stop the spread to our vulnerable and old. It's going to happen and I realise we dont have enough ventilators to cope with the peak. But as for normal working person, covid will barely make them break sweat for a couple of days so dont think it will bring industry down. Only the hype and panic will do that.

Interesting:

As industry executives nervously size each other up, attention has naturally focused on Norwegian, in many ways the Flybe of transatlantic travel. This weekend it was forced to deny industry rumours that a Dreamliner it has permanently parked up next to the impound site at Gatwick is there as collateral for the airport should its stretched finances snap. Plenty believe they will.

For most of the airline industry, capacity cuts represent a sudden change of course. As recently as December, IATA’s chief economist was forecasting more increases to capacity. An extra 2,100 aircraft were due to join the global fleet, piling further downward pressure on prices. ➡️ Last year the average inflation – adjusted return fare was due to be 62pc lower than in 1998. ⬅️

Very sensible. We are keeping ourselves to ourselves and have begun online grocery shopping for the first time. Living on a farm helps as life continues much as usual. Italy's latest response ought to be being adopted everywhere. Short term acute disruption always beats a long term grind. The past three to four years is evidence enough of this.

Tenerife? Haven't been there for a good few years, went to Singapore Phuket and Dubai in January just before Corona got going, just hunkering down at home now.

Usually go skiing in March, but the rest of our gang won't go !!!

Yes you are right but access to soap and water isn't always available to all throughout the day and if you use a public toilet or one in a restaurant you are probably increasing your risk as removing it. I was hounding my daughter two month's back to get hand sanitizer and get out of the habit of touching her face - thankfully she seems to have done both.

You are right bargain, some of our towns and cities need a 'deep clean' of the scumbags.
