Diane Abbott, the shadow home secretary, on Tuesday night tried to prevent The Telegraph from publishing details of a court hearing at which her son was accused of assaulting a police officer

How foolish. As it was, she just had an embarrassing relative; now, she herself looks villainous.

The noose is tightening:
"M&G has suspended dealing in its direct property fund, which has more than £2.5 billion in assets under management, to stem the tide of investor redemptions. Investors will not be able to buy or sell units in the M&G Property Portfolio fund.
Just days before the General Election, the company said “unusually high and sustained outflows” have forced the temporary suspension of the funds, blaming Brexit uncertainty and the UK retail sector’s woes for making it difficult to sell commercial property".

Read through to who has commercial property debt, etc.

Jacko #876. We were all as poor as church mice so maintained our 'sit up and begs' by dismantling parts from the many Pops/Prefects that were dumped in fields - just to find that the gearbox was as bad as your own!
The Pops had vacuum wipers which were a nightmare when going up a hill.

Crazy times, but as you say we had to do the work because you couldn't pay anybody else to do it!

keyno - "Poikka: reading your posts re EU I'm sure you would enjoy Robert Menasse's "The Capital", a satire about the EU, written by an Austrian. Reminded me of the brilliant BBC satire of itself, "W1A".

Not sure that I want to read anyone else's point of view on the EU, just now. The EU is evolving into the sort of organisation that the visionaries aimed for, albeit creating chaos along the way; so it's a changing landscape that can be o.o.d. before a writer's ink has dried.

For example, many of us were happy to be part of EFTA or the EEC and would have written applauding the organisation, but that point of view changed post Maastricht, and Lisbon.

I fear that the vision is going to allow Brussels to become yet more of a Big Brother than it is already. That is what happens when folk get the power bug - everyone wants to be a part of that leadership. Powerful and increasingly remote, not good and wholly unnecessary. It's bad enough already.

Time to put the Christmas tree up.

Johnson..no kids?
he has got kids...about four with his wife...one with a former lover...and thats without digging..!"

Indeed. Johnson was a typo arising from an inconvenient distraction!
The rest have no kids.
Which was the jist of the message I was making - no stake in the future.

Johnson backs tech tax despite Trump's threats
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he would press ahead with a digital sales tax even after the US threatened to punish France for a similar move.

In a proposal first outlined last year, large online companies face a tax of 2% of UK sales from April 2020.

2% is reasonable and won't kill the golden goose! McDonnell's spiteful taxes just takes the glitz out of success! McDonnell/Corbyn the most uninspiring duo British enterprise has ever had to endure!
