k38 I think if a deal is not agreed and Article 50 is extended then T May will step down...

For her job done, always likely to happen with a remainer in charge. Resolve of thwarted leave voters would be hardened. New alliances could be formed with Brexit big hitters, Farage, BoJo, JRM and others. They would have massive public support and there would be no credible opposition....what would be their slogan.... we thwarted democracy lol?

Mrs May desperately wants to retain the Backstop as this fullfills her promise to big business to keep us in the EU.
The WA is worse than membership so a future can tell the country it’s more beneficial to rejoin.
The fact that by any metric the EU is failing means nothing to the likes of May and Hammond.
As for todays post we all know how It works.
Someone in Brussels flies a kite. Government tells us it’s not going to happen. Next thing it’s being debated in Brussels and before you know it QMV and its the law.
No meaningful vote, just straight onto the statute book.
This will the same if we accept Vassal statehood with the WA. Will parliament get a vote on all the EU legislation designed to destroy us. No, thought not.

Brexit will happen, even if it means Farage has to come back with his Brexit party to achieve it by finishing off a half done, poor job of brexit. Parliament has failed the people. Democracy hasn't worked. No sign of the remainer MPs giving the necessary support that would put pressure on Barnier, Tusk, Juncker to negotiate. They are a disgrace and should hang their heads in shame. Sooner or later the unsustainable EU will fall apart and when it does there will be a deafening silence from the remainers when they eventually realise that they were wrong in their belief that we should remain part of this failed social experiment.

Government responded
This response was given on 29 January 2019

The Government’s policy is not to revoke the Article 50 notice. The British people gave a clear instruction to leave and we are delivering on that instruction.

Read the response in full
In 2016, almost three quarters of the electorate took part in the referendum and 17.4 million people voted to leave the European Union. This is the highest number of votes cast for anything in UK electoral history and the biggest democratic mandate for a course of action ever directed at any UK Government.

In 2017’s General Election, over 80% of people then also voted for parties committing to respect the result of the referendum - it was the stated policy of both major parties that the decision of the people would be respected. The Government is clear that it is now its duty to implement the will expressed by the electorate in the referendum.

The British people must be able to trust in its Government both to effect their will, and to deliver the best outcome for them. As the Prime Minister has said: “This is about more than the decision to leave the EU; it is about whether the public can trust their politicians to put in place the decision they took.” We recognise that to do otherwise would be to undermine the decision of the British people, and to disrespect the powerful democratic values of this country and this Government.

To revoke the Article 50 notice would go against the referendum result and is not a course of action the Government feels we should take. The Government continues to be committed to delivering on the instruction given to us by the British people; working to overcome the challenges and seize the opportunities this brings to deliver an outcome which betters the lives of British people - whether they voted to Leave or to Remain.

In doing so, we will honour the mandate of the British people and leave the European Union in a way which benefits every part of our United Kingdom and every citizen of our country.

Whilst we note the judgment in the recent Wightman litigation, the Government's policy is not to revoke the Article 50 notice.

You will learn from experience.. don't you worry. The way I see it right now Brexit has lost.

In Brussels there are only 2 bosses, Germany and France.
.

Italy is going to be the 3th strongest economy in Europe after Brexit and look how they suffer under Brussels rules.

UK will have thesame treatment if stay, especially without a say.

Politicians who try to sabotage Brexit are nothing more than ignorance and dangerous for democracy. Because of these idiots politicians, the bureaucrats of Brussels don't give an inch to UK demands on backstop. Backstop is there for a reason. It's a trap. They will never agree to any deal and UK will be locked in Europe paying billions without any say.
