12/9/2023 14:14 | Sorry cross purposes I think I am suggesting up until dividend is paid into accounts 223 50 is a sell level due to the current malaise affecting this Lgen Aviva and Phnx Might all change this p m but still maintaining that view In light of the weakness could see this go towards 180 target level Doesn t make sense but is just my snidey senses | jubberjim
12/9/2023 13:31 | Jubber, not sure why you'd wait until the day before divi payment to buy. If you're not worried about getting the divi, you might as well buy on ex-div day, when the price is at its short-term low. I can't say I've ever noticed price peaking on divi payment day, but you definitely do get dips on ex-div days, and prices often start to recover within a day or two. So why wait? | thamestrader
12/9/2023 13:23 | I think any individual or big player like LGEN must make clear due diligence before moving into any investment sector without experience. There are investors losing billions just on the coat tails of ESG, as its the in thing. Need to make investment with clear targets that are realistic and have the right management team. Investing in environmentally friendly companies is a mine-field of risk and the margins are small or can be negative without government support. LGEN should stick to their knitting and not be sucked in by these plays (like the government is hoping they will do ..) GLA | tornado12
12/9/2023 11:35 | No I am putting forward the idea that the share are being bought ahead of the dividend being paid using spare funds in anticipation of the shares being bought after dividend lands in accounts thus sending the price up | jubberjim
12/9/2023 10:02 | The shares are xd so they can't be bought now to receive the next divi payment, if that's what you are suggesting. | anhar
12/9/2023 09:36 | Have picked 223 50 as next pinch point so awaiting with interest might be pre divi buying but hey what do I know | jubberjim
12/9/2023 09:29 | netcurtains I’ll get me coat. Still curious as to whether the rise across the board is mm’s testing the ground or some actual buying pressure. | yump
12/9/2023 07:45 | L&G invest X amount a year. The fact that some investments pay off and some do not, I guess, does not affect the current balance sheet, rather it affects profits and losses down the line for pensioners. How much money does L&G invest a year? And as a general rule what percentage of that money does not pay off in terms of future income? | netcurtains
12/9/2023 07:37 | I imagine both businesses looked good on paper but somebody dropped the ball in relation to the reality of them working in real life settings with all the factors that come into play like law, infrastructure,p | 123trev
12/9/2023 06:26 | 2. M&A related and other variances includes gains and losses, expenses and intangible amortisation relating to acquisitions, disposals and restructuring as well as business start-up costs. The total for the 6 months ended 30 June 2023 includes GBP163m of costs incurred relating to the announced intent to cease production within the Modular Homes business and impairment of the group's investment in Onto. | morgoth1
12/9/2023 00:15 | I doubt it's shareholder's money. It's almost certainly future pensioners' money, or those who buy unit trusts or whatever else lgen sells. | pierre oreilly
11/9/2023 23:18 | Onto’s Financial Struggles Despite raising hundreds of millions in both debt and equity financing, Onto, an electric vehicle leasing company, has recently entered into administration. While the cause of this financial distress remains undisclosed, this development has sparked a wave of concern in the electric vehicle (EV) industry, leaving stakeholders questioning the future of the company. Another L&G investment to be written off? | shawzie
