I even thought of listing a company on aim myself beanstalk exploration having been given three special and magical beans by a man who looked a little like a wizard I planned to plant them watch them rapidly grow before I and a hand picked selected specialist team would climb the stalk in the search for golden eggs. The £10 million initial public offering included a free rabbits foot for every £10k investment it didn’t happen but I’m certain it would have been over subscribed pmsl.

I've lost on a few with AIM, I made more than I lost though by quite a bit, but I definitely got burned a few times early on. But you only need a few good ones to more than make up for the bad.

Millwall football club were my first, I traded them successfully for years 😂.

You did very well to never lose, probably a bit of everything, luck, intuition and judgement. You certainly need a bit of luck to stand a chance there, but it's not all down to that.

Yes remember that but happens quite often with these oilers lol but the miners are the best just ridiculous what people believe there prem being a stand out for me a company registered in the Cayman Islands under coc roach holdings lol you couldn’t make it up but GR is a master at what he does and a staggering valuation there now what a money maker! Truly never lost anything only made money and yes pretty unbelievable but true call it luck or intuition perhaps my last aim trade was MAC a few months back made around 35% and sold to early.

Trev, your post brings back some memories 😂. Can you remember Desire Petroleum? They announced one week that they'd hit oil on one of their digs, the price obviously shot through the roof. They then announced the following week that it wasn't oil they hit, it was actually water 🤦‍a94;️😂. Fortunately I wasn't involved in that one. But I've had others not go to plan.

I'm investing more money now than before, so the difficulty in selling the shares in companies I liked became very difficult unless there was substantial buying or I accepted a price below the bid, and as you mentioned, the spread on some of them is already huge.

The worst company I was involved in suspended their shares the day after I bought them pending an RTO, then after 6 months they announced the RTO failed and they spent all their money. The placing tripled the shares in circulation. The price wasn't good at 8am that day 😂.

stevelauren23 - on basis that 'not losing money . . .' should be rule number 1, I have boring tracker fund / ETFs at the core of my portfolio. Just look at the boring ytd performance of the Legal & General Global Equity ETF (LGGG) compared to LGEN. One of the reasons I've been moving away from single shares over the past couple of years. LGEN is my last remaining single dividend paying holdings.

I've predominantly invested in companies on AIM, I thought the FTSE 100 would be a less depressing place to be 😂. I'm looking forward to when this routine of daily dropping ends. Whenever that may be.

Trouble is you don’t know who you are voting for. I hoped for a more socialist and caring society when I voted for Tory Blair. Then amongst other things, wards started closing when NHS buildings were sold off and not reopened in nice new shiny forms.

Isn’t 30 years ago when the dodgy concrete got installed ? At the time of rampant PFI ?

HSBC pay quarterly, so it's a tall ask to get sign of at numbers quickly to create that income, but LGEN divis help, plus I can salary sacrifice into my SIPP too, a spend to save measure!I have had Barclays and did well trading them. Only had 2 holdings, AV and Barc, when one went up the other went down, probably technical terms are available. I also noticed in New York they have a massive presence, so also a contender... or both!?Barc are forever in the dang for something so they must just about be cleaned up now.

I don't mind being too exposed here, my main businesses are property investment and a small 40 car dealership, so although I'm overweight here on the stock market, I justify it by telling myself I am diversified in other ways. I'm also considering a bank though, I was thinking maybe Barclays before their recent rise, but hsbc could be a good shout from you. I might look into them a bit more.

Cassini, perfect, you can add the complete Government to that statement.... they are a bunch of headless chickens the lot of them, without control of a single pledge in the last years. Quite remarkable and hence DIY investing is the only way I can see a possible escape tunnel to retirement .. GLA

Meanwhile, I reckon this is heading for 180 area.

The Truss low was a panic low based on 5-6% interest rate prospects, but its now not a short term interest rate worry.

I think the divi from LGEN has to go elsewhere, too many reinvestors on that day, and AV will be out of fashion that day. That's just my SIPP, our ISAs will pay towards building work. Like you I am over exposed so next will be a bank, maybe HSBC where there seems to be a chance of a special divi.I'd love to just indulge, but I'm after early retirement.

Jim, I'm always a glass half full kind of investor, and I pretty much just follow my instincts which have generally served me well. But since covid nothing on the market seems to make much sense and everything almost seems to be a guessing game rather than logic winning.

That's how I've seen it anyway.

No problem, I appreciate the apology, given our previous conversations I can understand why you would think I was having a pop, so I also apologise for my part in those.

To be honest I'm just planning on leaving it in my account, I'm not planning on buying more lgen unless the price drops to around 200p, to me that would be an unmissable price even though I'm already overweight here. I don't like the idea of automatic reinvestment though because it just feels like I'd have no control over it. I've never been an income investor before though, so I'm just planning on using it as money I've earned any other way.

What are you planning on doing with yours? Reinvestment in LGEN or something different?
