28/6/2023 13:49 | 1 Brode only holds 14.8%, so he could hardly block a bid with that. 2 With his long term track record, I'm very happy to see him remain as non-exec chairman. Obviously he's retiring from the Exec Chair role at RWS, but perhaps a non-exec role at LTG with a talented CEO is easier for an 82 year old. 3 I would think the only reason for voting against the chairman would be some misguided governance policies where funds think non-exec directors should be moved on after a certain number of years. Such people would probably vote for Warren Buffett to move on. As far as I'm concerned, if a director has talent and skin in the game, the longer he stays, the better. A question: Who are the most similar large scale competitors to LTG ? Google comes up with some terrible examples. | jonesj
27/6/2023 21:59 | Is Brode's holding a deterrent to potential M & A ? He has dominant effective control just like at RWS. Nothing will happen with either company without his consent - not sure that is necessarily optimal for other shareholders (interests). | value viper
27/6/2023 11:19 | Thank you. | jeffian
27/6/2023 10:56 | Try this link Jeffian. hxxps://ltgplc.com/w | networker
27/6/2023 10:10 | Yes, that is an interesting one. As a long-term investor in RWS, Brode's presence here was a significant influence in my investment. They do say "In respect of resolution 4, LTG has engaged with its shareholders in order to understand the reasons behind the voting result and will continue to do so in the coming months" so it will be interesting to see if they follow up on this. As a matter of interest, where did you find the actual voting figures? The RNS just refers generically to all the Resolutions being passed and the link provided to the LTG site makes it very difficult to see the votes cast (at least, I couldn't find them). | jeffian
27/6/2023 08:31 | What's going on with Brode? 35% of peps at the AGM wanted him gone as chair. | alphabeta4
22/6/2023 12:07 | Interesting. Makes you wonder how long it will be free? Once everybody gets used to it, then perhaps it might change. | hazl
12/6/2023 14:31 | Again we have to remember that they have a certain value in cash alone without their business. The dividend has increased. | hazl
12/6/2023 14:29 | I am afraid the market showed that before 9o'clock Jeffian. Ah well. It might also be about the threat of AI taking over all these businesses...can't say. Apologises aimingupward2 as I didn't see your post. You can get the news from Sharecast or any of them. It reminds me, though, of when they first made laboratory diamonds. They were alright at first, but eventually, the real deal became the preferred gem and that reflected pricewise, in my opinion. We will see. It is the future that counts and they have made a success of their last acquisition, so I am going to give them a chance. Good firms reinvent themselves when the climate changes. | hazl
12/6/2023 14:16 | I don't understand why, but I can no longer bring up 'news' as I used to, either on my iPad or my laptop Chromebook. | aimingupward2
12/6/2023 11:08 | Click on the link in 'News' above! | jeffian
12/6/2023 10:45 | What’s the gist Hazl, please ? I can’t access it | aimingupward2
12/6/2023 10:29 | I'm not sure the market will see it like that, hazl. "In a challenging macro environment we continue to see moderate business momentum in the first half of 2023 supported by a healthy sales pipeline." I think that could be interpreted as 'low organic growth supplemented by acquisitions'. | jeffian
12/6/2023 08:25 | Pleased with that RNS. They sound confident. | hazl
22/5/2023 16:39 | Company has a good model but acquisitions have provided the froth Time for some more | phillis
19/5/2023 19:45 | LTG need to return to Mello for the annual conference as investors were able to engage with them there about seven years ago but they have gone quiet.... It is next week and 40 companies coming | davidosh
19/5/2023 19:26 | A good company reinvents itself. | hazl
19/5/2023 19:26 | Pleased for you Phillis . I sold some when I saw they were on the way down but glad I kept a few. You never know. | hazl
19/5/2023 19:18 | Glad I sold a lot of these at 190p | phillis
19/5/2023 13:15 | If they aren't already embracing AI Chatbots Satchell should take his and leave! :) | toffeeman
19/5/2023 11:47 | But agree this just got so low bounce back warranted. | hazl
19/5/2023 11:45 | It's likely the AI trend that is hurting us and the sector . But, come the time, when either LTG uses the technology, or they miss the real human contribution, then the fight back will ensue. Speculation but we will find out in time. | hazl
19/5/2023 11:42 | A good post faz. | hazl
19/5/2023 11:34 | Well if it does turn there's 20-30% to be made in pretty quick time. I think this is very well placed in more markets than the US and the integration has been a success. I dont have inside knowledge but I do know this industry. This from the recent results is not fluff "Effective January 1, 2023, LEO Learning, a digital learning specialist, integrated with GP Strategies' global content design team to create the world's largest and most creative custom content and learning experience design offering." | faz |
