I like the idea of hotels, the furniture is very very nice,
the clothes acessories are good my wife tells me, just need to
get the same ideas into the clothes and we are onto a stock
that has more potential than burberry.

what do people think about ALY moving into the hotel business. de-worsification? good or bad?

Im looking to buy in here and have been for quite a while but was bit supprissed when reading about the hotel.

Chart looking good here at the moment but no indication of sales performance. However if the rest of the retail sector is a guide then business should be a tad perky.

I think this may have further to fall and I have been considering purchasing some. Currently yielding 8% and even if the divi were halved its still better than leaving the cash in the bank. Dividends have increased steadily over the past 5 years, even through these challenging times and dont see why they wouldnt continue.

Any thoughts on why there was a 4 p sell off recently...? Have been watching these for many months and started buying now. Cannot see a reason not too.
The Divi is high but i believe it can be held...? Miss judged or misspriced...?

I thought due to the lack of activity on this board I'd try to kick off some discussion - Have been scratching my head about this one recently and came up with the following factors which have lead me to hold onto this as an investment:

1. Recent figures showing fashion sales down - the explanation was a late launch of Autumns fashion range....this is my biggest red flag, but I have a belief that it's a brand with a loyal following and with a burst of hot weather coming the target market for their product will no doubt be investing in new summer wardrobes. This is more a long term concern if the downturn continued over several trading periods - can only use the "late to market" excuse once.

2. Nice dividend %age - while I'm holding I'm doing better than most other opportunities out there...being a nice cash generative business I can't see this being a risk, especially if the business is confident in providing additional special dividends.

3. Chinese franchise - An announcement will have an immediate positive affect on the share price Everyone is expecting something, but it has been dragging on a while. I suspect some of this was built in already and the longer we don't hear news, the share price will reduce a little. But hey, the announcement could be tomorrow and all holders will be very happy.

4.Management bid - I guess this will be sensibly priced.

If anyone has anything to add positive or negative, please chip in.
