Laura Ashley looking good
Laura Ashley's (ALY) fashion clothing sales may have struggled during 2012, but the group delivered decent sales growth at it home accessories, furniture and decorating operations - helped by e-commerce progress and overseas shops. Overall, therefore, group like-for-like sales rose 2 per cent in the year.
Home delivery to new European markets, a mobile site and the introduction of a 'click and collect' service sent web sales soaring 19.6 per cent to £42.2m. Moreover, an additional 21 franchised stores were opened overseas across 28 countries, boosting international revenues by 13.3 per cent to £27.1m. Management is now looking for new franchise partners in China, India, South America and South Africa and has signed agreements with partners in Poland, Armenia and the Baltic states. New categories such as conservatory furniture helped lift licensing sales 17 per cent to £4.2m, too.
Meanwhile, home accessories was the star performer at the UK retail arm - although the clothing collection failed to resonate with consumers. Finance director Sean Anglim puts the 4.8 per cent underlying fall in sales there down to "getting the colours wrong" for the autumn collection - shades were too dark for the unseasonably warm weather.
Citing a difficult trading outlook, however, broker Cantor Fitzgerald Europe has cut its pre-tax profit estimate by £1m to £21m for end-January 2014, giving EPS of 2.14p.

IC VIEW:
Despite a disappointing clothing performance, the group is making decent enough progress elsewhere. Yet, adjust for the cash pile, and the shares trade on under 12 times forecast earnings. That's not pricey for the sector and there's a tasty looking dividend yield. Buy.

Yes big dividend and growth especially online which
is the important sales method.

Looking to buy more right upto the 14 June.

Apart from a very healthy cash pile of £34.6m,
a eps is very important to me a growth of 12.8%,
this means before the results we were PE16,
now PE14, so we can quickly move to 33p to
be valued the same after as before.

So my short term target is 33p.

Yes hopefully either retained or increased dividend will do
me, online sales hopefully still surging and an announcement
on the chinese partner would really send it through 30p.

Don't know why that should have a deleterious effect on the share price. John Lewis was doing the same thing a few wees ago and they are performing very nicely thank you. It is a sensible thing for companies to keep their costs to a minimum.

Hello, they have been paying a good one for yrs
and if the bottom line keeps growing the dividend
will follow, another one of mine pays 75% of the
profits to shareholders, stelios at ezj is pushing
for the same, imho all companies should do that.
We own the company, ITV another one of mine is strating
to return more with the increased dividend and special
announced yesterday.
With talk of negative interest rates dividend paying
stocks with growth will be in demand.

Re china it was stated in one of the articles that
it will happen in the Spring 2013. I will try to find
it for you but it was said.
