2 large B trades at about 11.65p - 1 x 10m and 1 x 10.4m - look like old trades from last week that may have been what prompted the recovery in the share price
edit. and another 10m B trade at 11.65p!

Well something is going on if its not speculation about Tethyan.
Interesting that the brokers think it will take 10 months to do a deal on Tethyan.

orvis,

i wouldn't get too excited about the Tethyan bid by crosby. in a recent buy note, crosby warned to be the brokers to be cautious about the bid and not to expect any news on this until march 2006.

thanks pb
My bet is they are buying because the IBD share price has shot up and that would be because punters reckon IBD is about to win Tethyan to sell on the Reki Diq project.

orvis,

i had a chat with a broker this morning. he told me he was buying lodore today. he also said they would still trade here as lodore post IBD bid. he wouldn't say why he was buying but i'm sure something is close judging by todays broker interest (he said other brokers were interested in lodore as well). i think this might be a good time to follow suit.

cheers, porky

Well, over 9million shares traded today and advfn seems to have no idea what column to put them in in its Trades section.
Most look like buys which you can tell as the bid and particularly the offer price rose during the day. That B trade for 3 million shares at 11.3p must be a broker sale to a friendly home.

Yes sheeneqa I get similar numbers...
- buy 10 LRS costs you £1.175 before costs
- receive 1.599 IBD shares currently worth 248 Yen each
- exchange rate is 198.5Y to the £ so sell the 1.599 shares for £2 before costs
= 70% profit before costs (or 82p profit per 10 shares before costs)

Of course the IBD share price is volatile but the 70% is a large margin so they would have to fall a long way before you even reach break even level. And if the Tethyan deal comes off they could rise from here not fall.

Well bottom line is 1.59 shares of IBD at 248jpy for 10 ldr at 11.7 and because of the incestous nature I am banking on this deal going through...

Then IBD only has to hold its price and you bank about about 80p for every 10 LDR held............IE 8g for 100k cost 11750........Wish it was that easy...or is it....

must admit i got into these and then back out as no change in sentiment and couldnt work out what was happening. put money into crosby (the brains behind the operation) where will still benefit and dont have to worry about poss probs holding a jap share etc etc.

crosby capital now has 35.5% (US $53m) of Lodore and 34% (US $141m) of IB Daiwa and 4 of their directors on the board. also have US$40m in other investments.

i think crosby capital may be a good choice as well, or instead .

I think someone bought into IB daiwa hence the price jump plus possible floor under share price but can`t get exact holdings. There has been a change in significant holdings on August 15. if anyone knows more please post!

Thanks for that feedback orvis, might buy a few more and take the risk that IDB
will hold its price after the offer is complete.......

At current prices IBD are offering 17.2p for Lodore shares. On that basis if you bought them at 11.75p today there is a 46% gross profit potential.
Don't understand why there are sellers. Been forced to top up before and probably will again at such a low price.

here is the reply from the online brokerage...

'Thank you for your email. We have not as yet received sufficient information with regards to this takeover bid by IB Daiwa. In theory, if an offer is put forward, we will be able to sell these shares for you, but until we receive sufficient information we cannot guarantee this. Once we receive the details of the takeover bid we will email shareholders with the relevant information.'

Generally brokers are set up to handle international trades but whether Japan is covered I do not know. I am going to email my online broker to ask.
