28/11/2014 14:44 | Also LAM do have some expertise in offshore wind farm infrastructure. I don't know how scaleable that business is (arguably Dubai isn't the best place to be building that sort of infrastructure) but it would be interesting to see if Moffat has a plan B | mad foetus
28/11/2014 14:39 | Can't answer if LAM shares are cheap. Can only ask some other questions. Is oil price going to the floor (say $50 or lower)? How long can oil price stay at these levels? Will oil be obsolete anytime soon? Where is the cheapest oil to produce and whose rigs do they use to get it out of the ground? Is LAM a well managed company now? Has LAM got all the cash it needs? Has LAM got the right customers who can survive a protracted oil price slump? These are just a few questions that you need to answer for yourself before being long or short in LAM. 28/11/2014 12:34 | It certainly does! | bulltradept

28/11/2014 11:49 | TB, The market is a hard unforgiving teacher. | bulltradept
28/11/2014 11:31 | I share your pain! I've gone from a decent paper profit to a small loss in that time. I don't want to panic, but I wouldn't want the loss to be any bigger and am now not sure what's for the best..... | trigger blade
28/11/2014 11:20 | why oh why did i not sell at 170!!! | tipjunkie
28/11/2014 11:06 | We all know the story. We have seen how it plays out. An ongoing collapse in the price of oil at best triggers deferred contracts and at worst triggers an evaporation in the forward order book. Of course market forces have a habit of being myopic. Winter demand in the northern hemisphere may drive the price of oil back up and, lo and behold, the "panic" subsides. Fickle equity markets. | bobsidian
28/11/2014 10:04 | When this sort of panic comes to town nothing is predictable. Crazy prices everywhere in the short term at least. Of course a few geopolitical events and it could be all change again. I'll be reviewing my book of conspiracy theories this w/e. LOL | plunger2
28/11/2014 10:03 | In auction. | bulltradept
28/11/2014 09:55 | Looking for an entry in the £1.20 region if that doesn't hold you have to be looking at a £1.00, other oil services companies are getting hit, and LAM is holding up relatively well, currently.. | bulltradept
28/11/2014 08:57 | I would like a bit more emphasis on the renewables side of the business. That seems fairly immune to changes in the price of oil as the use of offshore wind in particular is politically driven. | mad foetus
27/11/2014 17:11 | Better than being in Oil Sector! With lots of cash here and good management and a possible dividend there could be support for the price - but where is the question? If oil price goes to $50 expect plenty more trouble. But just imagine being in highly leveraged oils or oil servicers - good luck with that. The falls could be alarming. We've seen it all as recently as 2008. But it's worth remembering that we did recover. Tin hat time for sure! JMHO | plunger2
27/11/2014 16:47 | Oil price in a tail spin and no divi with this stock so no real support for the share price | salpara111
26/11/2014 08:26 | Ok, point taken, I did include SL in the management though. | srpactive
25/11/2014 08:51 | Whatever Steven Lamprell has in mind is what will rule - he controls the show essentially. I think once they re-instate the divi here all will be well with the price. However as long as Oil Price stays low we must all trim our expectations somewhat. Those who take a very negative view of the OP have probably exited the entire sector already - not me, not yet! 25/11/2014 07:59 | That has always been my opinion to, tipjunkie! Regards. | muckshifter
25/11/2014 07:52 | there is ZERO chance of a mbo here I assure you | tipjunkie
24/11/2014 21:57 | I usually don't take much notice of brokers notes, they only ever talk their own book up (or down if needed) but I'd settle for 200p and move on if needed. If there was t be an mbo I doubt we'll see a divi' though. GLA NAI | bugle4 |
