For the record this appeared in today's Telegraph Questor
quote
We tipped Kromek, which makes advanced radiological detectors, in March 2017, also on the basis of Gervais Williams’s holding of the stock. Its share price is now 1.9pc lower but the fund manager has lost none of his faith in the business.

“So far it has not had the big break we are looking for but we think it has the potential to become a very substantial business,” he said. “We have not sold any shares – in fact we have bought more.” Hold.

Questor says: hold

Ticker: KMK

Not sure what your chart analysis is telling us susiebe? Results are out on 14th January and these will be interesting in terms of real progress on sale etc and on what the company says about the future in its key markets. In light of upside/downside risk shares have never been better positioned in my view as company at break even with a strong balance sheet, protecting downside risk. Upside risk has been around for much too long !! :)

Tweet Share ShareBy LNR Staff on January 7, 2019Kromek Group Plc (KMK.L) shares have seen the Balance of Power trend higher over the past few sessions, indicating potential price moves are ahead. The Balance of Power (BOP), indicator was developed by Igor Livshin and it was introduced in the August 2001 issue of Stocks and Commodities Magazine.  Balance of Power (BOP) measures the strength of the bulls versus the bears by assessing the ability of each to push price to extreme levels.  The BOP indicator represents the strength of the buyers (bulls) vs. the sellers (bears), and oscillates between -100 and 100. The calculation of the BOP = (close – open) / (high – low). A directional change of the BOP can be interpreted as a warning signal and will generally be followed by a price change.Often times, the stock market will be affected by political, social, or economic events. The result may be end up to be positive or negative. It is wise to remember that market fluctuations can happen at any time for many various reasons. Sometimes it may not be evident of why the market moved until long after the scene has played out. Making investment decisions in a turbulent climate may be extremely tricky. At some point, investors may find themselves on the wrong end of a trade. Staying vigilant in the markets may help investors bounce back after a temporary defeat. Investors who stay the course and stay with an investment plan may be able to better handle the ups and downs of daily market movements. Repeatedly trying to find the tops or bottoms is not an easy task. Even the most seasoned investors may not be able to successfully time the market. At the time of writing, Kromek Group Plc (KMK.L) has a 14-day Commodity Channel Index (CCI) of 63.05. Developed by Donald Lambert, the CCI is a versatile tool that may be used to help spot an emerging trend or provide warning of extreme conditions. CCI generally measures the current price relative to the average price level over a specific time period. CCI is relatively high when prices are much higher than average, and relatively low when prices are much lower than the average. Investors may be watching other technical indicators such as the Williams Percent Range or Williams %R. The Williams %R is a momentum indicator that helps measure oversold and overbought levels. This indicator compares the closing price of a stock in relation to the highs and lows over a certain time period. A common look back period is 14 days. Kromek Group Plc (KMK.L)'s Williams %R presently stands at -36.49. The Williams %R oscillates in a range from 0 to -100. A reading between 0 and -20 would indicate an overbought situation. A reading from -80 to -100 would indicate an oversold situation.Technical analysts may be interested in how Kromek Group Plc (KMK.L) is trading in relation to some moving averages. Presently, the 200-day MA is resting at 25.34, and the 50-day is 25.41. Moving averages are considered to be lagging indicators that simply take the average price of a stock over a specific period of time. Moving averages can be very useful for identifying peaks and troughs. They may also be used to help the trader calculate reliable support and resistance levels for the stock. The 14-day ADX for Kromek Group Plc (KMK.L) is currently at 16.61. In general, and ADX value from 0-25 would represent an absent or weak trend. A value of 25-50 would support a strong trend. A value of 50-75 would signify a very strong trend, and a value of 75-100 would point to an extremely strong trend. Checking in on some other technical levels, the 14-day RSI is currently at 55.58, the 7-day stands at 58.89, and the 3-day is sitting at 59.02. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is a momentum oscillator that measures the speed and change of stock price movements. The RSI was developed by J. Welles Wilder, and it oscillates between 0 and 100. Generally, the RSI is considered to be oversold when it falls below 30 and overbought when it heads above 70. RSI can be used to detect general trends as well as finding divergences and failure swings.Investors may be taking a closer look at holdings and trying to decide which way the stock market will lean in the second half of the year. Maybe there are some surprising winners, and the decision needs to be made to either sell for a profit or hold on for further potential gains. Maybe there are some losers that are being held onto with the hope of a rebound. Sometimes investors may get too emotionally attached to certain stocks. Keeping unbiased focus on the market may help provide the portfolio with an added boost. Nobody knows for sure what will transpire over the next few quarters. As earnings reports flow in, investors will be monitoring which companies provide the biggest surprises.

I read the ST article in IC and it is an interesting stock

Tend to agree with Chimers here, they listed 5 years ago so I would have liked to see that they have reached profitability and the turnover built more quickly. £67 ml market cap looks plenty given the record and share issues always dilute future returns,

Que passa . Addendum . The worst that can be said against my first post was that I did not specify the point at which the price had been gradually rising . To be unambiguous : it appears to me that things have been on a slow upward trend since spring 2018 . If I had stated or implied that this had occurred since the original price of 80 p could indeed have been " false and misleading " , but that was NOT the case . Perhaps you are annoyed bacause you have lost money so far on Kromek . Well , that happens to all investors including me . Anyway , my greatest crime was to be ambiguous in my first post in not specifying the time from which I believe that the price has been recovering . Anyway , this is my last post here . Goodbye .

Que passa . Of course the share price has fallen from 80 p . It has since reached 20 p twice ( autumn 2016 and spring 2018 ) . During that drop , every time the price rose , it was followed by a long , lingering fall , always reaching a new low . Since this spring , the price has been recovering , with a reversal of the graph ( a gradual rise , followed by a drop , but generally rising ) . This reversal surely reflect the fact that Kromek is no longer based on mere hope , and that it is starting to make sales . I had the honesty and humility to openly admit that I know nothing about charting . I am astonished by your claim that I had made a " false and misleading claim " : nothing could be further from the truth , as I detest ramping, whether attempting to nanipualate prices up or down . I had thought that , apart from the ubiquitous " chimera " , this chat site for Kromek was only used by investors for an honest exchange of information and opinions . I cannot be bothered to become embroiled in one of the vile exchanges which blight the internet , so I shall not bother to post here . I repeat : I made it blatantly clear that what I wrote was my OPINION , and that I am not an expert on charting .

In today's article , Simon Thomson of the Investors' Chronicle targets a share price of 37p , thus a 40% increase on the price when he released his article ( 26.5p ) . Having subscribed to the IC for a few years , it seems clear to me that Simon Thomson is not given to wild excitement , but proceeds instead in small increments . However , and this is pure speculation on my part , but I feel that this is a very unadventurous target . As Simon Thomson writes , Kromek's products seem to be gaining traction , so the Company should soon move out of the most dangerous phase of its existence , when it has been loss-making . Having invested for over twenty years , Kromek reminds me of other small , niche companies in technology which have eventually gone on to great things . Such companies , which I sold far too early , include " Gooch and Housego " and " XP Power " . Before getting to such a stage , there is a huge amount of what Simon Thomson calls " execution risk " , which translates as " there's many a slip between cup and lip " . Furthermore , although I know nothing about charting , the share price graph has been moving up for some while . Personally , I intend to hold for a long time , by which time I think that the price will be far higher than 40p . Nevertheless , all of the above is only my opinion , so DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH . Good luck with all your investments .

DARPA are funded by the US government with a view to developing new technologies including military technologies.

For full year 2018, DARPA requested about $3.2billion from the US government to support and fund their various research projects.

So, the odd million dollars here or there to Kromek is not even chicken-feed to DARPA.

It's not like Kromek are managing to get R+D contracts of $50million out of DARPA but really tiny amounts.

Just to put things into perspective, DARPA have about 250 research and development projects on the go at the current time.

With any R+D program, DARPA generally opens it up to a bunch of companies of all sizes and then selects several of them all to look in to the same project.

If Kromek are getting the odd $million or two here and there out of state-backed DARPA, it doesn't really mean a lot and certainly the amount of hoo-hah and hype which Kromek make about these DARPA contracts is in my view quite out of proportion to what they actually are.

ALL IMO. DYOR.

100% disagree.

And just remember , that the much vaunted DARPA contracts are NOT sales contracts. They are RESEARCH/ R+D CONTRACTS which may or may not lead anywhere.

DARPA is just a research-funding, state-backed, non-profit organisation and not a manufacturer or sales company.

ALL IMO. DYOR.

Robin Byde, analyst at Cantor Fitzgerald, says: “The group is well capitalised and extensive R&D is now being converted into strong sales with blue-chip customers. “Kromek is on track to achieve break-even this financial year, the first time since [it floated] in 2013. We forecast strong growth thereafter reflecting a well-invested manufacturing platform, a healthy contract pipeline and high operational gearing.”

Culford . As you wrote yesterday , results must be imminent . From the Company's website , results for the three previous years were published about now (16/12/2015 ; 7/12/2016 ; 19/12/2018 ). I had difficulty buying 20,000 shares yesterday , so I had to place a ( successful ) " kill or fill order " , which gives me hope that market makers don't have sufficient stock .

For rational readers : v important new contract won with DARPA for : not only $2m in the next year, but adds biological threat detection to its offering, a potentially huge market.
