17/12/2019 09:54 | Seems you're right the sixth deeper reservoir was previously untested but they have now drilled it and are positive. No date on just that but I believe the below says they think it may stretch across southern mauritania, slightly ambiguous though. "Orca-1 well in Block C8 offshore Mauritania, successfully encountered all five of the gas sands originally targeted. The well was then further deepened to reach an additional target, which also encountered gas. Howard Leach, BP's head of exploration, said: "This is an exciting result as it proves that our seismic data is identifying hydrocarbon reservoirs deeper than we had previously thought. We have identified a large prospective area with considerable resource potential in Southern Mauritania. We will now conduct further appraisal drilling to help inform future development decisions." | fraserdean
16/12/2019 19:56 | the Oct 28th Orca-1 RNS said ".....In addition, a deeper, untested Aptian play has also been identified within the area and surrounding structures." but I don't think it's been drilled yet, although DS-12 was on location at Orca-1 for quite some time following the discovery RNS. | xxnjr
16/12/2019 16:22 | I'm thiniking it's extra deep reservoir personally that they'll be looking to extend across the fairway but... | fraserdean
12/12/2019 09:10 | Got it, thanks. Patrick Pouyanné (Total) has always been on the look out for distressed assets from struggling mid-caps. Uganda must have risen to the top of his wish list now, albeit at a knock down price perhaps. As you say "Interesting times". | xxnjr
11/12/2019 17:36 | yeah, government said agreement reached but nobody will believe til the oil companies say so, if they were to do that in the next couple of weeks it might rekindle some interst in the licensing round, just a conspiracy theory | fraserdean
11/12/2019 15:53 | Sorry to hear that. In a fast moving situation like Tullow it's really difficult to judge when to enter, where to place a stop (don't use them myself) and when to exit. As things stand now I'm kind of thinking I'll hold onto them as a recovery play. But you never know with Tullow..... ..... you mean good news on FID? which would get Uganda out of the sub-zero zone for a place to explore? | xxnjr
11/12/2019 09:26 | TLW clearly need to give up their Operator role in Ghana. Agree Total would be good in that role. Assuming they still want the asset. I'm a bit down here. Luckily sold out of T, a few days before bad news hit. Bought back in there. Hopefully will more than make up for losses here. But you never know with Tullow..... | xxnjr
10/12/2019 09:01 | Bit disappointing, hopefully a bit overdone while they recalculate the figures and sellers work their way out, guess we'll see. Hopefully Total take Tullow and a more ruthless operator works on geology and opex. | fraserdean
09/12/2019 14:46 | Meanwhile life goes on. 8503 has indeed shown up at 'Oldfield'. [strangely 8503 signal was off during transit] | xxnjr
09/12/2019 09:43 | Intersting times, it's becoming rare for independents to do well out of Africa | fraserdean
09/12/2019 08:51 | Bit of a hiccup from Tullow Ghana. Odd no K RNS! | xxnjr
07/12/2019 12:18 | MT still showing 8503 on MC214 but I'd say it's moved and is now en-route, or even on MC728. Would anticipate Oldfield spud any day now. | xxnjr
26/11/2019 14:47 | Same here..... I think is some cases a smallish areal extent GOM field can contain a lot of oil (relatively speaking), as sometimes the net pays can be quite thick. | xxnjr
26/11/2019 14:18 | ok, thanks, gotta say the GoM is still a bit of a mystery to me, they have their own ways... | fraserdean
26/11/2019 10:59 | Had a look at existing Esox field. The top hole location of wells drilled are only feet apart. In answer to your previous Q ..... just think they place the THL's of some expl wells very closely on some potential GOM discoveries, so they can re-use them as producers at a later date when tied into sub-sea templates, or whatever they may plumb the wells into. | xxnjr
26/11/2019 09:39 | Bit of a drama queen reaction there, quite a drama queen share this though | fraserdean
26/11/2019 07:08 | 'Resolution' sands found but no oil. Was always high risk given seismic challenges. 'Oldfield' probably has better COS. | xxnjr
23/11/2019 17:49 | 'OldField' will be drilled by the 8503 (still on MC 214). WD 5187ft. TVD 21344ft. "Req Spud Date: 11/25/2019" 'Resolution': Lots of trips by the OSV's (Robin & Ella G) from supply base to rig for the last 10 days or so. 26 hrs each way. | xxnjr
15/11/2019 23:44 | Resolution Initial Exploration Plans | xxnjr
15/11/2019 14:30 | Transpires SL4 & SL5 are alternative re-drills if SL1/2/3 are Junked. "The SL 4 and SL 5 are mirror locations and are intended as re-spud locations only." SL6 maybe also be a re-drill? although doesn't say it is. All top locations are fairly close. Have well paths for SL1/2/3/6 but not 4&5 (the re-drill fall back permits) SL3 was heading NE. SL6 is heading SE. | xxnjr
15/11/2019 12:43 | Ours not to reason why... | fraserdean
15/11/2019 09:44 | My initial thoughts were junked well. Dunno. share price was off a tad in NY yesterday on slightly below ave volume. All 6 wells (if drilled) are "drill, complete and temporarily or permanently abandon Well". | xxnjr |
